Indoor recess isn't my favorite kind of recess, but having options for my students makes it almost as good as getting outside! I have a lot of games to choose from, but sometimes my students want to write on white boards, play a math game, or write stories. We talk about the different options before we start and students know that they can switch between choices. What is something your students like to do during indoor recess? #teacher #teacherlife #teachersofinstagram #recess #students by @teach.and.repeat
Happy Halloween! My popcorn costume from yesterday, a few from recent years, and a couple old ones featuring my beautiful daughters (they were just babies.) 🩷 If you're wondering, the popcorn lasted all day; through teaching, an observation, and happy hour. 😉 I love dressing up and I can make pretty much anything with a hot glue gun, including Elsa's and peacocks. Dismissal can be loud, rushed, and a little bit frantic, but it doesn't have to be! These are some small and easy things that we do at the end of the day that keeps everyone calm and quiet. Well, as quite as a bunch of 2nd graders can be at the end of a school day! 😆 If you want any additional information about our end of the day routine, please reach out! #teacher #teacherlife #teachersofinstagram #students #classroom by @teach.and.repeat
Do you dress up for Halloween? We have a parade to start off the day and then I'll sprinkle in a some fun things throughout the day. I still try to keep things pretty structured, but just Halloween-themed. @luckylittlelearners All Access makes it so easy to plan a theme day or have a holiday celebration. I just searched Halloween and had a ton of options to choose from. Have you checked out All Access yet? Let me know if you want more information about it! #teacher #teacherlife #teachersofinstagram #classroom #halloween by @teach.and.repeat
Just a few of my favorite (and most-used) things in my classroom! What is something that you use everyday and would have a hard time teaching without? #teacher #teacherlife #teachersofinstagram #classroom #coffee by @teach.and.repeat
I can be really productive when I want to be (and when I don't have an after school meeting!) Having my classroom be set for the next day is always my priority. It makes the morning so much easier because I don't have to rush. I always make a to-do list in the morning and try to get as many things done as possible before I go home. I usually try to leave at contract time most days, but I have been terrible about it this year. Do you get a lot done in your classroom after dismissal? #teacher #teacherlife #teachersofinstagram #classroom #school by @teach.and.repeat
Morning Meetings are such an important part of our day! We get to say good morning, share a little bit, do a fun activity, and set the expectations for the day. I'm always trying out new activities with my students, and these ones have been big favorites so far this year. We do them for the whole week, and then do them throughout the year. I also want activities that are simple and easy, so my students understand how to do them with not to many directions or practicing. These also work great for a movement break during the day too! If you want any more info or are looking for the items featured here, let me know! #teacher #teacherlife #teachersofinstagram #students #morning by @teach.and.repeat
I think talking is so important for my students as they share thought and ideas, work together, and express emotions. We're working on the right balance of listening and talking, while also practicing keeping the volume at a level that lets everyone be successful in our classroom. If you have a loud or talkative class this year, these are a few things that have really helped in my classroom. 🩷 #teacher #teacherlife #teachersofinstagram #students #classroom by @teach.and.repeat
Starting the day off right! The way my students feel when they come into the classroom can have a big impact on their entire day. I make sure to check in with everyone and keep things quiet and calm (as much as I possibly can 😉) It definitely helps set the tone for the day! #teacher #teacherlife #teachersofinstagram #students #classroom by @teach.and.repeat

Books are such a great way to show examples of empathy, kindness, and acceptance. These are big themes for Unity Day, but these books are wonderful reads no matter what day it is. On Wednesday, we'll be wearing orange and the whole school will create collaborative posters. And I'll be reading some of my very favorites to my students. 🧡 Do you celebrate Unity Day in your classroom or school? #teacher #teacherlife #teachersofinstagram #books #kindness by @teach.and.repeat
Starting the day in a positive way! There are so many positives I see from using morning tubs. And not just for my students. I'm able to check in with specific students, ask and answer questions, and support any students who might need more practice with working in a small group. I also just observe their conversations (and their creations!) Do you do morning tubs (or a soft start) in your classroom? If you want more information on how to set up, expectations, or what materials I use, just let me know! #teacher #teacherlife #teachersofinstagram #classroom #mornings by @teach.and.repeat
