Most family conflicts aren’t about disrespect — they’re about unclear boundaries.

Screens. Space. Stuff.

When families co-create agreements around phones, privacy, and shared items, conflict decreases and security increases. Boundaries don’t create distance — they create safety.

Clarity builds calmer homes 🤍

Teach Emotions had the honor of celebrating @afujimahigh first graduating class!

Several years ago, Teach Emotions Founder, @drdennisibude , taught many of these graduates during their 9th-grade Foundations of Leadership course, where students explored social-emotional learning, leadership, relationships, self-awareness, and personal growth.

To witness those same students now walk across the stage as high school graduates is a powerful reminder that the seeds planted today can blossom years later.

Congratulations to the Class of 2026! Your resilience, growth, and perseverance have brought you to this moment. Congratulations as well to the families, educators, mentors, and staff who supported these young people every step of the way.

Our founder @drdennisibude recently had the opportunity to join @avenuesforjustice Executive Director Liz Frederick and the AFJ team at the @robinhoodnyc Teen Council!

During the conversation, Dr. Dennis shared more about the work taking place through Avenues for Justice’s Youth Empowerment and Leadership Council programs, including how these spaces help young people strengthen their confidence, communication, leadership, decision-making, emotional awareness, and ability to advocate for themselves and their communities.

The Teen Council participants brought incredible curiosity, thoughtful questions, and a willingness to challenge ideas about youth justice, leadership, and the issues impacting young people across New York City.

A special thank you to Liz Frederick and Avenues for Justice for the invitation, and to Robin Hood for creating spaces where young people can engage directly with nonprofit, business, government, and community leaders.

Teach Emotions is proud to continue supporting work that centers youth voice, emotional development, leadership, and community impact 💪🏾💪🏾

Teach Emotions was proud to support another meaningful Youth Empowerment experience in partnership with @avenuesforjustice , welcoming Darryl Epps Jr., Deputy Director of the Office of Higher Education in Prison at SUNY, for an impactful conversation with young people.

Throughout the session, Darryl spoke openly about his journey, from experiencing incarceration at a young age to pursuing education, transforming his life, and now working to create opportunities for others.

Thank you Darryl for pouring into our young people and to Avenues for Justice for continuing to invest in their growth and development. We’re looking forward to more conversations like this 💙

For the second year in a row, @teachemotions was grateful to join @avenuesforjustice for their Summer on the Avenue Street Fair in the Lower East Side!

In partnership with @hope.initiativellc , we were able to give back to young people and families preparing for the new school year by providing sneakers, book bags, school supplies, graphing calculators, social-emotional learning books, and additional resources.

What made the day even more special was seeing so many organizations, businesses, and community partners come together in one space to serve, connect, celebrate, and pour into our young people. From music and games to haircuts, double dutch, resources, and giveaways, the block was filled with community energy.

Here are a few highlights from an incredible day of community and giving back 💙

Harlem Week was about more than celebrating history! It was about giving young people the opportunity to see themselves as part of what comes next!

Through the theme “The Harlem We Inherited. The Harlem We Want,” @avenuesforjustice Leadership Council & Speech and Debate Participants used poetry, debate, storytelling, and interactive activities to celebrate Harlem’s culture, reflect on its legacy, and share their vision for the future.

The experience was made even more meaningful by the presence of NYC Council Member @dr.yusefsalaam , @santanaraymond of the Exonerated Five, and New York State Assembly Member @jordanwright4harlem, who joined the celebration and supported our young people as they used their voices.

Moments like these remind us why youth voice matters. When young people are given the platform, preparation, and confidence to lead, they rise to the occasion!

Teach Emotions was proud to join an incredible day of unity, health, healing, and community support in the Bronx! We came ready to serve!! We gave out school supplies, clothing, and SEL resources to help young people and families prepare for the season ahead.

When we say we teach emotions, we’re not only talking about workshops. We’re talking about showing up for our communities in meaningful ways 🫶🏾

We want to give a huge shoutout to @righteousgoddess for the invitation 🙏🏾🙏🏾

Initiative Village 🤎

We’ve officially wrapped up yet another community initiative, and our hearts are FULL. 🥹🤎

Our Back to School Drive was a huge success! Together, we were able to provide 85+ book bags, school supply kits, and free haircuts to students in our community as they prepare to head back to school. 📚✏️🎒💈

But this was about so much more than backpacks and supplies. It was about reminding our young people that they are supported, they are seen, and their community believes in them.

A HUGE thank you to our incredible collaboration partners, @teachemotions and @embodystudiobk , for coming together and helping us bring this vision to life. When organizations, businesses, and community members come together with a shared purpose, we can create something truly impactful. 🤎

To @chasity.anissa ,@theonlyyyant_ , @callmedjvirgo , @lucky._ke, @she.calls.me.handsome ,every sponsor, donor, barber, volunteer, supporter, and person who contributed supplies, resources, time, or funding — THANK YOU. None of this happens without people who are willing to pour back into the community.

This is what The Hope Initiative is about: creating opportunities, building community, and showing our youth that there is always someone rooting for them.

And trust us… this is only the beginning!

We’re excited for more collaborations, more community initiatives, more partnerships, and more opportunities to serve our people together. There’s so much more to come.

“ Rooted in hope. Driven by love. Building brighter futures — one heart at a time.”
