A 2015 TFI Fellow, Saniya is now the Director of Garware Balbhavan, Pune, where play is at the heart of learning. 💙

During her journey as a School Leader at Paangkriang Friendship School in Northeast India, she connected science with local traditions, nature, and everyday practices through 50 contextualised science experiments. Her work reflects how learning becomes meaningful when children explore the world around them and recognise the knowledge within their own communities. 🌱

With a wider impact spanning 1,800+ students, 600+ teachers, 10 states, and 20+ Northeastern tribal communities, Saniya’s journey reminds us that curiosity can turn everyday experiences into powerful learning opportunities.

An engineer by chance and educator by choice, Namita Agarwal (TFI Cohort 2018) has spent nearly a decade working in education. Today, she leads the Khanmigo programme, exploring how technology can meaningfully amplify teachers and learning.

From working with 700+ students across 15 schools in Maharashtra to coaching 200+ educators, her journey reflects what becomes possible when education, technology, and a deep commitment to students come together. 💙

When students lead, families show up, and a community comes together : something special happens❤️

That was the Collective Day at Shri Sant Gadge Maharaj vidyalaya

From a creative registration and Learning Circle that brought together teachers, Student-Alumni, parents and Fellows, to a vibrant Student Showcase celebrating parental engagement, the day was all about learning, leading and belonging.

Our students took centre stage, running food and craft stalls, applying their India & I learning, and confidently leading every interaction. Watching parents engage with their children’s work and see them shine made the day truly special. ✨

The HM and PMC teachers stood by us throughout, supporting the logistics, encouraging families to participate, and creating the space for our students to lead.

Because none of this happens alone. Every conversation, every stall and every moment was made possible by many hands coming together.

This was SGM students leading, families engaging, and a community growing together❤️* by @teachforindiapune

As part of our ongoing efforts and initiatives around creating awareness towards POCSO and Child Safety, we recently conducted child safety sessions for students of Grades 4–7 and their parents at Maharishi Annasaheb Shinde School, Pune.
With the children, we had age-appropriate conversation about safe and unsafe touch, body boundaries, recognising uncomfortable situations and the importance of speaking up. With parents, we explored how to recognise signs of abuse and create an environment where children feel safe to ask questions, share concerns and seek help.
At Aks, we are committed to creating safe spaces for children to grow and thrive.

Collective Day: When Care Becomes a Community Effort 💛

At Krantiveer Lahuji Vastad Salve e-learning school we noticed something small that made us pause. Many of our students were coming to school without proper lunches. When we spoke to their families, we realised that many parents leave early for work and often skip breakfast themselves.

That conversation became the starting point for our Collective Day. We wanted to bring our students, parents and school community together around something that touches every home: nutrition and well-being.

The day began with celebration, as our students took the stage with solo dance performances for the Ganesh Festival. We also celebrated their creativity by recognising students for their social awareness posters.

The day then moved into community, with a session for parents on nutrition and mental well-being. It became a space to listen, learn and reflect together on how we can care for ourselves while caring for our children.

And finally came care in action, as students and parents came together for a nutritional food competition, turning healthy choices into something joyful and shared.

And perhaps the moment that captured the day best was at the very end: three little girls happily relishing a plate of healthy food.

Because at KLVS, Collective Day reminded us that Celebration, Community and Care can begin with simply noticing, listening and coming together. by @teachforindiapune

We welcomed our 2nd cohort of the Saathi Learning Circle yesterday! 💛

Saathi's mission is to bring together our Student Alumni to help them gain the knowledge, skills, and confidence to become powerful advocates for educational equity in Pune.

The highlight of the day was the panel discussion with three of our Student Alumni - Kartik Gaikwad (Founder of Gully Gully Code), Rubina Hazari (Teach For India Fellow, was also a part of Saathi's 1st cohort), and Shreyas Gavhalkar (Software developer). Special thanks to Tushar Jha for moderating the panel and bringing in his own insights from being in the ecosystem for over a decade.

All the best to all Saathis for this transformational journey ahead.🎊 by @teachforindiapune

Collective Day stories | When a School Becomes a Community 🎉*

Maharshi Annasaheb Shinde English Medium School opened its doors to something bigger than a regular school day - a coming together of students, parents, mentors and partner organisations, all united by one belief: that learning happens best when we build it together.

🎨 The day began with a Poetry Workshop in partnership with Baithak and Beyond, where our students discovered poetry as a language for their emotions guided closely by mentors for every grade.

🛡️ In partnership with AKS Foundation, our Child Safety and POCSO Awareness session brought students and parents into the same room, building a shared vocabulary around safety that extends from school into every home.

🥗 A Health and Nutrition session reminded our parents that caring for a child’s wellbeing begins with caring for their own.

And then, our students showed us what they had learnt in their own voices:
- Grade 4 students became the teachers, guiding their own parents through a stress-relief class of breathing, movement and art.
- Grades 5 and 6 brought together problem-solving, emotional reflection and drama rooted in real classroom learning.
- Grade 7 students led conversations on empathy, on real-world issues like the Nepal floods, and on food safety reminding us that our children are already thinking about the world they want to build.

Collective Day was a reminder that when students, families and educators reflect and grow together, possibility follows. by @teachforindiapune

Collective Day Stories | Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj School, PCMC

What would it take to bring an entire school ecosystem together around its children?

This question inspired Collective Day, an opportunity for every school to bring together the people who shape a child’s journey. Over the coming weeks, we will share stories from each school, beginning with Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj School, PCMC.❤️

The day brought together the school’s Headmistress, parents, students, and representatives from Fujitsu, Enabling Leadership, Muktangan, iTeach, and Avasara. Through a gallery walk and experiences in music, art, and social-emotional learning, the community explored a shared belief: a child’s education is about far more than academic achievement.

Parents participated not only as caregivers, but as individuals with their own talents and stories. One group of mothers shared:

“Aaj ye stall lagaya toh mere bacche bhi jaanenge ki meri mummy mein confidence hai, aur phir unke andar bhi confidence aayega khud ki mehnat present karne ka.”
Their words reminded us that courage is contagious. The Student Council also led entire spaces independently, showing us that when children are trusted, they do not just participate. They lead. What began as one day has sparked a bigger question: What if this became a rhythm, rather than a moment? Because when a collective comes together, children see more than a school. They see a community that believes in their possibility.
