Plot twist for September: I’m swapping Year 6 for Year 3 🤭

Still deputy head, still 50% teaching, just a very different year group to get my head around.

More on the “wait, how do I teach 7 year olds again” panic coming soon 😅

📚KS2 Library Display📚

I’ll openly admit that I nabbed this idea from @father_teacher_reader so you should definitely go and see his original post! ❤️

The kids have loved seeing it go up bit by bit and love looking at all of the different book covers in it!

My plan is to add some black thought or speech bubbles that will include pupil voice. 😍

What do you think?

Hopefully it’s not just me who has had to restock their classroom already… 🫠🫠

I swear the kids secretly hoard things because it’s the only explanation.

Thankfully @ypoinfo have come through with the goods 😍😍

As a DHT, I enjoy dipping into leadership books occasionally to give me a different perspective and with the aim of constantly improving my leadership to better serve the community I’m privileged to work in.

One of the main things I really liked about this book is that each of the chapters covers a key aspect of leadership and the different problems or challenges you may face.

Ones that stood out to me personally?
• How to delegate (something I find really challenging!)
• Staying steady and energised under pressure (need I say any more?!)
• Building healthy resilience

Which chapters would you head for straight away?

✨ A Day in the Life - Back to Work! ✨

Can’t believe we’re back to work after a glorious summer off! We all have very different days in school as deputy heads, KS2, KS3 and part time…so it’s interesting to see how they compare!

Which day looks the most like yours?

@teachmateai has stepped it up a notch! 🙌🙌

Their new worksheet generator tool is a great way to support reducing workload for staff.

I’ve been slacking on reading much children’s literature this year so I’m determined to turn that around!

Which of these books am I seriously missing out on? Let me know! taken in United Kingdom by @teachingyear6

✨ Day in the Life - final day of the summer holidays! ✨

We loved doing our last one of these so decided to do it again!

Friday was the last official day of the summer holidays, so we all made the most of it in different ways.

How are you feeling about going back - do you feel ready?!

If your classroom isn’t Pinterest-worthy right now, you’re not on your own.

I’ve had quite a few people message saying how overwhelming it is. Set up is overwhelming for everyone, even a deputy head, twelve years in.

I’ve still got a million things to do but when they walk in on that first day, it’ll be ready. It always is.

What’s still not sorted in yours?

Have you got a top tip to share? taken in United Kingdom by @teachingyear6
