Medal Monday** 🥇

As many of you know we are part of @team_ewan_cf , a group committed committed to raising money for the @cftrustuk formed shortly after Team Captain Ewan was diagnosed with CF.

This Medal Monday*, we want to recognize not only the individuals who ran yesterday but also the minis and juniors who participated on Saturday each playing a full part in fundraising and support. While the medals are great to show off, let’s not forget that there are countless others behind the scenes keeping everything running smoothly for us from transport and child care to meals and logistics.

A massive congratulations to everyone who took on the Great North Run yesterday, and a big shoutout to the organizers for yet another spectacular event!

What an amazing day the kids of Team Ewan have had. Starting with Ewan’s last mini race before moving to juniors next year. He absolutely smashed it I think my lungs hurt more than his.
Then Erin’s first junior run and setting a time that could be hard to beat. Jake went next followed by Rosie and Eva who got to run together.
We got to see some family and friends and had s chat with Brendan Foster.
Great to have @gnrtynebridge with us and being able to raise awareness and money for @cftrustuk meeting others who are also part of the CF community.
Thank you to everyone who had sponsored them; really appreciated.
Now let’s see if the adults can beat the atmosphere from today.

As The Great North Run is approaching fast for Team Ewan we all have our ways of preparing.
For some it’s the last long runs, some it’s still training for a marathon (@scottcolothan ), some have entered other races, some have had to train in darkness around work schedules, Ewan has been doing junior park run and others get the drill, glue and paint brushes out @gnrtynebridge 😂
Whatever we do though we all think of why we are doing it. We are raising money @cftrustuk. For those with Cystic Fibrosis like Ewan. To help fundraise for a better future with this condition. Till one day CF stands for cure found. We also raise awareness of the condition, help people know about it. One day you may meet someone with #cysticfibrosis and wouldn’t it be better for them you already know some of what they go through and make it feel easier for them.

Whilst we continue with our last week of preparations like drinking water, eating well and glueing more Lego people to a road do check out the Team at our just giving page and if you can please leave a donation. What a weekend for Team Ewan at the Great North Swim at Lake Windermere!
Everyone completed what they set out to achieve and with success especially given the windy conditions.
We are incredibly proud of all the swimmers and swim runners as well as our very own Ewan completing a 5k ParkRun in 31:30 on Saturday morning. 🏊‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏊🏃🏻‍♂️
Great amount of money raised this weekend too. Thank you to everyone who has sponsored the team and a big thank you our supporters for the weekend and Cindy and Ken for as always keeping us fed and rested.

Friday was CF Clinic and annual review.
Saw the whole team which includes physio, dietician, nurse and doctor. Height and weight done (height up, of course, and weight a bit static so needs a bit of monitoring).
Lung function tested (98%) it’s been better but with a cold last week pretty happy with that and last time it was low so this is positive.
Everyone happy with Ewan’s health including chest sounding good and stomach feeling fine.
Bloods taken (he was very brave). No xray this time as one was done in November but he does need an ultrasound and another eyesight check in the upcoming months.
Ewan’s now been on Alyftrek for 3 months and the bloods will be checking liver function just incase of side effects.
These days give us a reminder of Cystic Fibrosis but also show how well Ewan is and how well we are supporting him so let’s keep it up 💛 by @team_ewan_cf

We’ve been quiet at Team Ewan. Sometimes life just needs to go on and social media is hardwork to keep up.
So now that it’s February 2026 I think it’s time for an update.
Firstly the main man himself. Ewan is now 8years old as of last month. I can’t believe what he was going through 8 years ago when we lived in hospital for 7 weeks. He’s doing so well. He’s now on Alyftrek. An amazing new treatment. He’s loving his sports and drama especially Junior ParkRun where he’s getting some great PBs. We are very lucky he’s getting the medication he’s on but he’s still on so much tablets and still needing regular physio and which 8 year old wants to stop and do all that when they can be playing.

Secondly, Fundraising. How did we get on in 2025? Last year we raised a total of £6767 (oh Ewan will love that number, if you know you know). That money has now taken our grand total in 8years of fundraising to £80221.04!!!!!
80k in 8 years. Wow. Thank you so much everyone. For everything, the support, the donation the efforts. You are all amazing and we couldn’t do it without you!
Now what do we all want to do in 2026?! 🎉

All the money goes to the @cftrustuk to help support helping those with CF and their families now and in the future trying to improve their lives. by @team_ewan_cf

Ewan’s had a great year with his happiness and his health.
Only one course of antibiotics I can recall and mainly positive lung functions and Junior ParkRun personal bests. Some weight loss and lower than preferred lung functions but we are beating it. There is always a worry with this condition.

Great work from Team Ewan again with the Great North Swim, Great North Run including the mini and junior runs and especially great work from Ewan’s grandparents who have raised over £3000 selling at car boot sales and on Facebook and vinted.

Thank you to everyone who has supported Team Ewan this past year and well done to all in Team Ewan who have achieved so much. It is really appreciated!

Ewan started his new medication this year Alyftrek and not long after got a parkrun PB so bring on 2026 and let’s see what this boy can achieve.

What a day for all us at Team Ewan. The runners and supporters have had a great day and Ewan loved watching the @rafredarrows air display.
It’s hard to put The Great North Run into words. So much support before, during and after the run from the North East and @cftrustuk
A lot of money raised (thanks to everyone who donated) and a lot of awareness raised especially from @gnrtynebridge and @bbcsport for helping to spread awareness of #cysticfibrosis

We will run until we need to to create a life unlimited.

And that is Ewan ready for his mini great north run tomorrow.
It’s going to be an early start for us. He’s running at 8.45am in Newcastle.
He’s ready to run fast.

At the moment his health is really good but this disease is so unpredictable and anything could change. Even when well it’s only down to the amount of effort put in for him to stay well 365days of the year. We need to improve this.

Next week Ewan along with some of his friends and cousins will be running the Mini Great North Run @great_run
Ewan’s been doing some fantastic running recently with a high lung function and is ready to try run this distance as fast as he can.
However earlier this year his lung function reduced with no known virus to have caused this. It gave us a wake up call once again of the impact #cysticfibrosis does have and that more work is needed to improve the management of the condition for all with CF. For this Team Ewan will continue to raise money to support improvements.
Ewan is hoping you can support him and donate something towards the trust and his link will be on our stories and in the bio if you are able to.

Today this absolute warrior made me incredibly proud. Does he look like he has a lung condition? We had a busy day planned and I told him to start easy.
✅ Walked the dog
✅ Ran a parkrun personal best on a hilly course even when we were taking it easy.
✅ Helped out loads at Ollie’s Flyball training.
✅ Ran 2km at Tidal Trails with @eventsofthenorth_ starting and finishing on sand in the heat.
✅ Did a sand sprint run
✅ Completed Families on the Track all on sand with @mrs_p_12x and @sarahrycroft7. He ran his fair share of a 3km relay.
✅ Then he played on the beach running (still) in and out of the sea.

This little guy has not stopped. He has tried super hard in everything. He has put in so much effort and smashed it all!
I am incredibly proud of him and given the fact he has Cystic Fibrosis it makes me even more proud of how he managed the heat and exercise. What Ewan has to do everyday to keep well. What we have to do for him to make sure he stays well. It’s all worth it but it shouldn’t be this hard. He is very lucky he gets the medication he needs to make him this well.
But we need to keep fighting for others too.
We won’t stop till all are living a life unlimited.

Tonight I am going to bed a very proud mammy to my CF Warrior!!! Ewan I love you!
