It was an honor participate in the Massachusetts Heath and Hospital Association’s Panel! I got to share a little bit about the story of how my mom came to #Boston and how she supported my journey from teaching, to law school, and ultimately to becoming a state representative. I also want to give a special shoutout to my fellow panelists, Dr. Kevin Churchwell, Al Campbell, and Freddie Jacobs, Jr., moderated by Pratt Wiley! I’m so excited that @essence HBCU Classic is coming to Boston, Saturday, Aug 30th. I am so grateful for everyone who partnered with me to secure this earmark in our Commonwealth’s budget. Thank you to Mayor @wutrain, @cityofboston Director of Sports, Tourism, and Entertainment @bordersiv, the @mablacklatinocaucus for their support and advocacy, and of course HWM @repmichlewitz, Speaker Ron Mariano, and our Gov. @maura_healey for this investment, which will generate so much revenue for our Commonwealth and support local businesses throughout the state.

A Roxbury native, Tuskegee Airman, and member of the legendary 332nd Fighter Group, Brigadier General Enoch "Woody" Woodhouse II has spent a lifetime in service to his country and community. Proud to join @hanscomfcu and their Charitable Foundation in honoring Woody by naming him Emeritus Chair. His legacy of courage continues to inspire.

After 30 years of public service to Boston including 27 with the Boston Police Department, 2 as a probation officer, and 1 as a social worker it's time to say thank you and goodbye. Eddie Chrispin didn't just wear the badge , he showed up for this city and for the people he worked beside, shift after shift, year after year building a legacy of community centered policing across Dorchester and Mattapan. We’re so grateful for you, your service, and your leadership. Enjoy every minute of retirement, Eddie! You've earned it. 🫡

On behalf of Chief Justice Dana Gershengorn, I was invited to observe a session of the Massachusetts Juvenile Court, and I am grateful that I said yes.

I spent time learning more about the court with First Justice Johnston and Judge Niles. I also observed various judges and proceedings watching criminal cases and custody matters move through the system in real time. There is something clarifying about witnessing the work firsthand. These are families, children, and young people at some of the most consequential moments of their lives, and the weight of that is felt in every corner of those courtrooms.

As a former public defender and a legislator who serves as Vice-Chair of The Judiciary Committee, I believe deeply that understanding how our justice system actually operates day to day is part of the responsibility of lawmaking. Grateful to the Juvenile Court for the invitation and to Judges Johnston, Niles , and all who serve in our courts for their time and their commitment to this work.

Proud to stand in support of Senator Ed Markey alongside so many leaders who continue to show up for our communities across Massachusetts and beyond. Congrats on your re-election!

And I have to give special recognition to the Black women in leadership who continue to lead, organize, advocate, and make space for the voices of our communities.

Being alongside Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley, the first Black woman Senator of Rochester, Lisa Blunt and Senator Miranda, was a reminder of the power of representation and of what it means for the next generation to see us in these rooms, at these tables, and at the forefront of change. Leadership is not only about the title you hold.

It is about who you stand with, who you show up for, and how you use your voice in service to your community.

Grateful for the fellowship, the solidarity, and the opportunity to stand together. 🖤

Real conversations with the people who keep this city running. Joined @gblcboston for their Legislative Breakfast on the roof deck at 53 State Street, sitting down with union members and labor leaders to talk about our shared priorities. 💪🏽

The Greater Boston Labor Council represents over 100,000 workers and their families, and that kind of organized worker power is exactly what built the middle class in this state and in this country. Whether it is fair wages, safe working conditions, healthcare, or protecting the right to organize, the labor movement and the work we do on Beacon Hill have to move together.

I participated in the Hyde Park for National Night Out at the Hyde Park Municipal Building, and the energy there was so warm.

National Night Out is one of those events that reminds you why this work matters. Neighbors and public safety partners coming together, not in a moment of crisis, but just to be in community with each other. That kind of relationship building is what makes neighborhoods stronger before anything goes wrong.

Grateful to District E18 and the Hyde Park community for the welcome. This district runs deep and wide, and I am proud to represent my corner of it.

he @mfa_boston opened the Art of the Americas galleries on Juneteenth, and the timing was everything. 🎨

The newly reinstalled exhibit integrates art from across North, South, and Central America, and the Caribbean, centering Indigenous, Black, and diasporic stories alongside the familiar names of American history. More than 400 objects, including long-unseen works and new acquisitions, telling a fuller story of this continent and who built it. I had the honor of a personal tour from the museum's head curator, and was joined by my colleague Rep. Sean Garballey along the way.

What struck me most was a simple decision the museum made during the planning process. When the federal government offered them a $400,000 NEH grant with compliance demands attached, the MFA turned it down and found other funding rather than compromise their vision. That kind of institutional courage matters right now. Grateful for the invitation and proud to celebrate this on Juneteenth.

Boston showed out, and the energy in the room was electric.

I was proud to join Congresswoman @repayannapressley, State Senator @replizmiranda, and Delaware’s U.S. Senator @lisabrochester for the RCC Rally and honored to deliver remarks alongside these powerful women in public service.

There is something special about gathering in community, standing together, and reminding one another of the power we have when we organize, participate, and make our voices heard.

Laced up and ran the Mattapan 5K this month alongside neighbors, celebrating community health and hometown pride. 🏃🏽‍♀️

This race is everything Mattapan is: energetic, determined, and deeply rooted in love for this neighborhood. I also had the honor of recognizing local leaders and organizations making a real difference here, including @mattapanfoodandfit, @bincabps, and community leader Azar Reid. Their work keeps this community healthy, connected, and moving forward every single day.
