Michael Lavine, “Notorious B.I.G., Cypress Hills Cemetery”, 1997, gelatin silver print, 40 x 60 inches. Shown at Team in Spring of 1998 as part of “Some People”, the artist’s second solo show at the gallery. This was acquired by an incredibly affable 24-year-old, who had just that year become the biggest movie star in the world. He, and a very small group of his friends, spent nearly two hours in the gallery, pouring over all the Lavine material we had to hand. @michaellavine by @teamgal

Pictures of people: Slater Bradley. Seen here at Tam Ochiai’s Team opening in Fall of 2000. The only good advice I can give to young gallerists: spend as much money as you can raise on beer to hand out free at openings. @slaterbradleyarchive by @teamgal
