‼️MEET THE DJS OF CORPUS EX MACHINA: AXIOM‼️Axiom is a DJ, musician, and music industry professional based in Dallas, TX. She got her start DJing on the University of Miami radio station WVUM in 2007, and fell madly in love with techno shortly after. She took her DJing to the streets of Miami in 2009 and played some of her favorite venues such as the Electric Pickle and threw her first monthly party during the Wynwood Art Walk. Since moving to Dallas in 2012, Axiom has DJed all over the city, thrown dozens of parties, and become a notable member of the local scene. She is a founding member of Sequence Process and currently half of techno duo Gefährlich. She has recently shared the decks with the likes of Volvox, Rebekah, and Shaded and has played in cities like Amsterdam, Kansas City, and Denver. I'm thrilled to be featured in the @encaustic.collective mix series with a new 2 hour barnburner featuring my vision of industrial/techno. I was asked to do a mix for @mindheadspace which is now live and my first output in a long time. When I sat down to think about the theme, the dots connected themselves together as did the tracks. Take a read as you listen. I miss you.This is my hate letter to the pandemic. As a meme going around this week said, “the hardest part of the 15-day plan to flatten the curve is the first 18 months.” We all thought we would be out of this by now, but we were all wrong. The disruption this has caused me as an artist is something I never could have imagined. Most of my sacred spaces and all the nights I spent the little time I had in between my rigorous work schedule planning so I could share music with others were ripped away in an instant and nothing even remotely close to any one piece of that has come in to take its place. The range of emotions I’ve felt toward music include sadness, pain, anger, elation (when something cool finally actually happens), and most of all – and most surprisingly – apathy. I made this mix to express all those feelings in one place, and to remind myself and you of the beauty of chaos and the tiny moments of connectedness we still have. All the track names are representative of different facets of pandemic life as well. You don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone, or how impossible it seems to ever get it back, but we are still in this together.PS. I learned how to play pretty dang fast. Thrilled to be invited back to @itlldoclub to round out the year with @andrew_gleboff and @stetra!Let me just say... It's been really tough not getting to hear and experience techno in person for so long. I've admittedly lost a good bit of spark/drive/passion/inspiration without that in my life because streams and home sessions only fill a teeny bit of that void. Nothing can possibly replicate the live energy which is what attracted me to the scene in the first place. Mine has been low as a result. We had a good bit of momentum going at the start of the year with big dreams on the horizon and have had to sit back and watch it all get stripped away bit by bit.Losing local venues has brought a lot of pain to many more than just us, of course, and as a diehard music fan first and foremost, it's broken my heart. It's hard not to feel paralyzed and powerless. I realize how many sets and nights and people and smiles and places I took for granted until this year.But even having one night in a safe space to look forward to is monumental. I can feel it now.
