Technologies of Black Care, in collaboration with the Save our Quilts Archive (@quiltalliance), is excited to introduce MEMORY PATTERN - a 4 week class and participatory project exploring various themes that span the rich tapestry of quilting in the Black community, like: the history of Black textiles, the politics of craft and slow creation, the art and technicality of quilting, and the enduring legacies of Black home-making. Follow along we test the boundaries of quiltmaking, amplify Black stories, and celebrate the multi-faceted stories embedded in this powerful creative practice.

Grounded by the legacy of Daughters of Dorcas and Sons, the longest-running Black quilt guild in North America, MEMORY PATTERN has two goals:

โœธ Share & Learn ๐ŸŒ€: Creating a space for Black participants of all skill levels to share and learn valuable quilt and textile knowledge across generations โ€“ rekindling and strengthening this cherished practice.

โœธ Co-Sew a Community Quilt ๐Ÿชก: Actively co-preserving Black quilt/textile culture together by co-sewing a community quilt that tells the diverse, and vibrant stories of our 30+ participants.

MEMORY PATTERN is a multi-month project and weโ€™re only getting started, thanks for following the journey! โœจ by @technologiesofblackcare
