In the last 4 years, I've helped thousands of engineers upskill their careers, here's 9 beliefs you need to drop if you want to succeed in tech:

1) "𝗜'𝗺 𝘁𝗼𝗼 𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁" - I've seen people in their 40s and 50s land DevOps roles. Your experience from other fields is actually an advantage.

2) "𝗜 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗮 𝗖𝗦 𝗱𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗲"- Most of my successful students don't have one. Companies care about what you can build, not where you studied.

3) "𝗜'𝗺 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗲𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀"- Tech isn't about being a genius. It's about being curious and not giving up when things get hard.

4) "𝗜 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗜 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗹𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴" - You'll never feel "ready enough." Start building, start applying. You learn the most on the job.

5) "𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝘆𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝗜'𝗺 𝗮 𝗳𝗿𝗮𝘂𝗱" - Literally everyone feels this. Even senior engineers. It means you're growing, not that you don't belong.

6) "𝗔𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝗺𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝘄𝗲𝗮𝗸" - The biggest wins come from community. Ask questions. Share your progress. Help others. That's how you accelerate.

7) "𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗲𝗹𝘀𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗺𝗲" - Stop comparing. Someone started 2 years before you. Someone will start 2 years after you. Focus on your own path.

8) "𝗔𝗜 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝘂𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝗹" - AI is a tool, not a replacement. Engineers who know how to use it will be more valuable than ever.

9) "𝗦𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁" - Every "overnight success" you see took years of consistent work. Show up daily. Small progress compounds.

30 minutes is all it takes.

Everything you're chasing is just 30 minutes away.

The skill. The breakthrough. The fitness. The momentum.

30 minutes focused beats 3 hours distracted.

I actually see this pattern very often in tech careers.

Because, the ones who make it from junior to senior in months?
They're not smarter. They're not luckier either.
They just choose differently. Every single day.

↳ 30 minutes learning that tool you've been avoiding.
↳ 30 minutes actually building instead of reading about building.
↳ 30 minutes debugging that issue instead of "I'll deal with it Monday."
↳ 30 minutes working out instead of rewatching The Office.

The students who transform their careers in our bootcamp? Same exact pattern.

They show up for 30 minutes when they're tired.
When Netflix is calling.
When nobody's checking.

Great example is Mauricio, who went from full-stack developer to DevOps Engineer within a few months.

What made the difference? 30 minutes. Over and over.

I just turned 35, and honestly, it hit me harder than I expected.

Not because I'm getting older, but because of how much has changed since 25.

You know that thing people say - "I wouldn't change anything about my journey"?

That's not me 😅

There are definitely things I wish I'd known at 25 that would have saved me years of stress and unnecessary detours.

📍 At 25: I thought everyone else knew what they were doing and I was just pretending.
📍 At 35: I realize everyone is figuring it out as they go. Some are just better at hiding it.

📍 At 25: I calculated every risk to death and missed opportunities.
📍 At 35: I've learned the biggest risk is not taking any risks at all.

📍 At 25: I thought changing career directions meant I was indecisive.
📍 At 35: Those "random" pivots became my biggest competitive advantage.

Moving from Georgia to Austria with no work permit? Quitting stable jobs? Starting a YouTube channel while reducing my well-paid freelance hours?

All looked like terrible decisions at the time.

But every "risky" move opened doors I couldn't see from where I was standing.

The business background + teaching experience + engineering skills? That weird combination is exactly why I can run TechWorld with Nana today.

The truth is: Your 20s are supposed to feel messy. You're supposed to feel lost sometimes. That's not a bug - it's a feature.

I spent too much time waiting to feel "ready." Waiting for the perfect moment. Waiting to have it all figured out.
