The foundation of Oceanview Papermakers will be our beater. Today we began the maintenance and rust removal. I’m still recovering and couldn’t help much, but @teddymilder @ingebruggeman @lcrodondi and @kategokastudio got in there and made progress on our Voist Valley beater.

Announcing Untitled Art Group’s next exhibition at the San Ramon Community Arts Center from June 2 to June 30. We are a group of artists who exhibit periodically and meet regularly to critique our artwork. Each of us will have from four to seven 2D and sculptural works on display using various techniques and materials. “collective grief - in memoriam” at the Morris Graves Museum, Eureka, CA closing reception is this Saturday, March 7 from 6-9 pm. Artists’ talk Sunday at 2pm with Lori Goodman and Teddy Milder. We hope to see you there. 2 artists, 120 sculptures, almost 2 years in the making,. Our installation reflects finding beauty in the struggle to nurture hope, while rembering and honoring the devastation, loss of life, and culture due to senseless violence, atrocity, and war. “collective grief-in memoriam” now open at The Morris Graves Museum in Eureka, CA. Receptions on February 7th and March 7 with closing artists’ talk on March 8th. We began our collaboration over two years ago to reflect finding beauty in the struggle to nurture hope, while remembering and honoring the devastation, loss of life, and culture due to senseless violence, atrocity and war. It remains poignant now given all the recent events in Venezuela, Iran, Minnesota and beyond. Working to hold hope. Ice dyeing with fresh indigo grown by @teddymilder ! A short recap of the process and results - blending the fresh leaves with cold water and ice, straining out the leafy bits from the fresh dye, and various stages of our experiments on silk and linen. This process definitely works best on protein fibers (silk, in our case), the last slide shows the dry fabrics, from left to right are silk dipped four times from the start of the vat, silk dipped three times when the vat was almost done, linen dipped four times, linen dipped twice, linen dipped four times that had been previously coated with soy milk, and linen dipped twice that had previously been dyed with oxalis.
