People won’t always treat you exactly the way you treat them. They have different backgrounds, different life experiences, and different ways of showing up. There’s room for that.

But three things should still be there:

1. Respect.
2. A code they live by that aligns with yours.
3. Consideration.

When those things are present, you can work through conflict and have uncomfortable conversations, even when you don’t agree.

A little throwback from December 2023. I’m not even sure I ever posted this, but the thought still stands:

Difficult and complicated are two different things.

And it makes a difference when you take the time to figure out which one you’re actually dealing with.

As we wrap up the week, here’s your friendly reminder: the path to where you want to go might be difficult. It might require more time, effort, patience, or courage than you expected.

But difficult doesn’t mean impossible.

Let me guess… you think you have to have it all figured out.

I promise you, you don’t.

All you have to do is decide where you want to go and start heading in that direction.

When someone tries to get you off track, stay the course.
When it feels easier to stop, stay the course.
And when it feels like you’ll never reach the destination, stay the course.

Because the very next step could be the one that lands you exactly where you’ve been trying to go.
