Our Tourism Entertainment Academy (TEA) participants shine as they bring their comedic talents centre stage. 🎭

Led by Comedy Head Coach Owen “Blakka” Ellis, the comedians sharpened their skills and stage presence through live performances at Margaritaville Montego Bay.

Beyond industry exposure, TEF is supporting participants in pursuing a Stage 1 Certificate in Entertainment through City & Guilds, combining practical experience with professional development, creating greater opportunities within the entertainment and tourism industries.🎤

The future of tourism is already taking shape. 🌴🇯🇲

During Tourism Awareness Week 2026, the Jamaica Centre for Tourism Innovation (JCTI), a division of the Tourism Enhancement Fund (TEF), brought tourism professionals together for a hands-on exploration of AI and emerging technology.

From AI applications and cybersecurity to destination marketing, training, robotics and the guest experience, participants explored how technology is transforming tourism and how we can use it to work smarter and create better experiences.

Through JCTI, TEF is helping to prepare Jamaica’s tourism workforce for what’s next.

The future of tourism begins the moment visitors arrive. Jamaica has been integrating automated and biometric technologies at the Norman Manley International Airport and Sangster International Airport to help modernise border processing and create a more seamless visitor experience. At the end of 2024, more than 100 passport control kiosks and 15 e-Gates had been installed across both international airports, with the assistance of the Tourism Enhancement Fund (TEF). Technology handles the routine. People focus on what requires human judgement.

As part of Tourism Week, the Jamaica Centre of Tourism Innovation (JCTI), alongside the Tourism Enhancemenr Fund, hosted its Hospitality & Tourism AI Workshop on Thursday at the Montego Bay Convention Centre, bringing tourism practitioners together to explore the growing possibilities of artificial intelligence across the sector.

Participants had the opportunity to choose from different workshops during the day, allowing them to explore two distinct areas of AI application and gain practical insights into how the technology can be used within their respective fields.

The learning continued beyond the workshops, giving participants time to explore the Innovation Village, engage with exhibitors and technology demonstrations, network with fellow tourism practitioners and continue conversations sparked during the morning sessions 🤝🏾💡
