You know the feeling that you get when you’re dancing next to your ‘Ori sisters and you’re all on the same VIBE?? Love these talented ladies so much 🤍🤍🤍 Song title is “Pana’ona’o ‘Arioi” by Ia Ora Te Hura. What a pleasure to move in unison alongside @ori_withrina @la_cristal26 @chatiry and the creator of this piece of art choreo @tehani_robinson . Māuru’uru Tehani for sharing a deeper understanding of what it might be like to be an ‘Arioi woman in ancient Tahitian society facing difficult decisions. The Ariois were “specially selected and ceremonially initiated” into this clan of artists, dancers, and storytellers responsible for moving from island to island to perform rituals honoring the god of abundance, Oro. The top artists were required not to bear children. Māuru’uru @hotuaori for hosting such an awesome workshop and bringing the ‘Ori community together in Walnut Creek, CA 🌺 #oritahiti #aparima #arioi #tehanirobinson #teahonui #hotuaori by @tehani_robinson
✨NATI HIVA✨ Heiva I Paris 2025 🥇Mehura Overall What an incredible journey! I couldn’t be more proud and grateful for this amazing team @dancewithleolani @jadeiulio @tianarammos @loanabenjamin. Thank you for your time, energy and months of hard work and for pouring your hearts into this mehura. You each brought something very special and unique to the team. We danced as one on that stage and I loved sharing this adventure with you.🩵 MARAMA. Māuruuru maita’i @i.amemile for this incredible song. It’s been in my heart for over a year, and it literally gave me LIFE through a difficult time. Māuruuru maita’i @nancyelizabethxo for your incredible costumes and couture creations. Māuruuru maita’i @heivaiparis pour ce bel événement. Pōpō maita’i ia ‘outou te mau pupu ‘ori. Heureuse de partager la scène avec tant de groupes, rassemblés autour d’une même passion. • ARAPO speaks of the phases and transitions of the moon, of its importance for te iti tangata, our nunā’a, the people. MARANGI TE MARAMA NUI speaks of the FULL moon when she is at its most powerful. Te HOTU in Tahitian, HOKU in Hawaiian. For me, this song reminded me of Hina i a’a i te Mārama. A wise woman, Hinano Murphy once told me (caption for French): « We must return to the myth, the myth that recalls this role of a woman who is propelled forward. Hina - these are titles, positions of women who have a certain mana, a certain power. At one point, Hina takes the title of goddess of the moon, but it is a western vision that gives her the role of ‘goddess’ - in the Polynesian vision, it is a title; a ti’ara’a. She becomes Hina i a’a i te Marama. She becomes te ava’e and te mārama, she regulates the cycles of the Moon, and therefore Time and Life itself. These women, these Hina, are women of strong personalities, they build, create, memorize, control time and recite genealogies… and they must pass on their knowledge. This is how I see these women, who are ‘empowered’. You come back to the origins, to the foundational myth. » • My mother’s name is Hina. This piece is a tribute to all HINA carried by strong and accomplished dancers (yall know you are Hinas in my eyes!) 🤍 by @tehani_robinson
