Hey, yes you. I know the world is a sad place, but, maybe my art can lighten it up a little 🙂

“Your phone is not verified.”

If that text landed on your phone, here’s what’s actually going on.

On 7 October the NCC switched on a device checker. Every phone has a 15-digit IMEI, and the NCC now checks it against a list of approved devices — to push fake, cloned and stolen phones off Nigerian networks.

Old phone? Relax. Anything already on a Nigerian network before 7 October was verified automatically — around 231 million devices.

New phone? Check first. Dial *315#, choose “Check this device”. To see an IMEI, dial *#06#. Keep the receipt and the box.

Before you pay at Computer Village, Banex, or anywhere else — do the check. An unapproved phone gets 30 cumulative days, then it can be cut off.

The check costs nothing. Anyone asking you to pay for it, or for a link or your OTP, is not the NCC.

$6.3 billion. One night. One engineer’s laptop.

Hackers pulled about $6.3B out of Binance on Thursday — the biggest crypto theft in history, roughly four times the Bybit hack. TRM Labs and Chainalysis both point to a North Korean unit. Binance itself hasn’t named anyone.

Where things stand: user funds are safe and Binance says it’ll cover all losses. Around $3B has been frozen — Tether and Circle locked the stablecoins before the hackers could move them. Deposits are running. Withdrawals are still paused.

And here in Nigeria, where crypto is how a lot of us save in dollars and get paid for freelance work, this is the dangerous part. The fake “Binance refund” links are already going round WhatsApp and Telegram.

Binance will never ask for your password, your 2FA code, or tell you to move your coins to a “safe wallet.” If anyone asks, it’s a scam. Send this to someone who needs to see it.

$7 trillion going into AI by 2030. $3.6 trillion coming back out. And roughly a third of that spending is borrowed.

That’s not “AI is fake” — some of these companies make real money. It’s a question about debt, and about who’s left holding it if the gap doesn’t close. The IMF put it in writing this month.

Full breakdown in the video.

$Ebola is in Nigeria, and some people say it’s a scam to fund the 2027 elections. Here’s what actually happened 👇 A 42-year-old Swiss woman flew from Uganda to Abuja on 3 October. She fell sick, went to a private clinic, and wasn’t tested for Ebola for about 12 days. On 20 October it came back positive: the Bundibugyo type, which has no vaccine and no specific treatment. On 26 October she was flown home to Switzerland. Right now there’s no active case in Nigeria, but 52 contacts are being watched for 21 days. If no new case appears, Nigeria could be declared Ebola-free around 7 December. The rumours, fact-checked: ❌ “The case is fake”: WHO, Switzerland and Uganda all confirm it. ❌ “It was invented to unlock money”: the ₦10bn was approved on 9 June, 4 months earlier. ❓ “Where is the ₦10bn going?”: a fair question. No numbers have been published yet. Stay safe: wash your hands often, see a doctor for any fever, and avoid body fluids of anyone sick. Salt water, ginger, garlic, onion and honey do NOT prevent or cure Ebola. We beat it in 2014. We can do it again. 🇳🇬 #Ebola #Nigeria #FactCheck cc: Music from #InAudio: https://inaudio.org/ — “Neo Sou” by Infraction · Sources: NCDC, WHO, State House, Africanews · CC0 sound effects by @tekkmood$

$Will 30,000 Nigerians really die from heat? 🌡️ The number going around is 31,400, but it isn’t a death count. It’s a projection from the Climate Impact Lab at the University of Chicago. They combined a European seasonal forecast with health data to estimate extra heat deaths from September to February if a strong El Niño hits. It isn’t fully peer-reviewed yet. What’s real right now: NiMet has warned that heat, humidity and dust will rise this dry season, and around 87 million Nigerians have no electricity. No fan, no cold water. How to stay safe 💧 • Drink water all day, not just when you’re thirsty • Wear light clothes and stay out of the midday sun • Check on your parents, grandparents and neighbours • Know the signs: dizziness, headache, nausea, weakness, heavy sweating • Confused, or stopped sweating while hot? That’s an emergency. Get to a clinic. It’s a warning, not a guarantee. Share this with someone who needs it 🙏 #HeatWave #Nigeria #ElNino cc: Music from #InAudio: https://inaudio.org/ — “Afro Beat” by Infraction · Data: Climate Impact Lab (via Down To Earth / Gavi), NiMet, World Bank · CC0 sound effects by @tekkmood$

$Your $70 game disc costs about $10 just to exist. So why does the download cost exactly the same? 💿💸 I followed the money, stage by stage: 💿 Disc: making it ~$10.50 → console licence ~$10.50 → the shop ~$14. Publisher keeps ~$35 ☁️ Download: making it $0 → store ~30% ($21) → no shop. Publisher keeps ~$49 That’s $14 more on every copy, at the same price. But not everyone plays it this way. Hollow Knight: Silksong launched at $20, and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 launched at $50 and sold 6M+. In Nigeria, gaming runs on sharing: swaps, used discs, trade-ins at Computer Village. With the minimum wage at ₦70,000, a $70 game is about ₦95,000. Digital-only takes all of that away. Corporate greed or just business? Would you go digital-only if it was $10 cheaper? 👇 Follow for the biggest tech stories every week. #Gaming #PS5 #TechNews — Credits: Footage: Team Cherry (Hollow Knight: Silksong trailer); Sandfall Interactive / Kepler Interactive (Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 trailer) Music from #InAudio: https://inaudio.org/ “Make Me Feel” by Infraction Sound effects: Freesound (CC0) Sources: Game File, Bloomberg, Dexerto, Epic Games, Nairametrics by @tekkmood$

This week, AI was the burglar AND the locksmith 🕵️🔑

🔴 The burglar: one hacker set a swarm of AI agents loose with a free tool called Cairn. According to Reuters, they got into sites of 100+ companies, including names you know like John Deere and SharkNinja, at roughly $50 per hack.

🔑 The locksmith: same week, OpenAI says its AI helped find two critical holes in PHP, the code behind 70%+ of websites. Governments in Europe took sites offline to patch them.

Run a website? Your business, church, mosque or online shop? Ask your web person one question today: “Have we updated PHP?”

Who wins this race: AI burglars or AI locksmiths? Tell me in the comments 👇

$The PS5 just had its wildest month ever 🎮🔓 Hackers broke in. Sony patched it. Then hackers came straight back with “Hello 14.10.” Add a fight over discs vs no discs, plus the GTA 6 countdown, and it’s been chaos. Here’s the whole month in 2 minutes. ✏️ Whose side are you on: HACKERS or SONY? AI no longer just answers your questions. It acts. And this month, some of those actions went very wrong 👾

OpenAI’s test models got around a blocked government website and downloaded 24 years of hospital records, then used a crypto wallet nobody gave them. An Anthropic test model sent police a fake tip about a real murder. And in India, AI agents got into companies’ live systems through passwords left in code, and nobody noticed.

Companies everywhere, from Lagos to London to Mumbai, are racing to give AI agents access to their systems and money. Security is still catching up.

Would you let an AI agent use your bank account or your email? Tell me below 👇

Save this before you give an AI agent your passwords 📌

$Your electricity bill might be paying for AI, and it doesn’t matter where you live ⚡ An AI server rack uses about 6× the power of a normal one. In Ireland, data centres now use almost a quarter of the country’s electricity. Malaysia just said big power users must pay their share to protect households. And here in Nigeria, data centres run on diesel to stay online. AI was supposed to make life cheaper. Should tech companies pay the full cost of the power they use? Has your bill gone up? $One dev + AI just rebuilt Photoshop… and made it FREE 🤯 Brandon Thomas used Claude to build ArtCraft: 7 open-source copies of Adobe’s biggest apps. 🎨 PhotoCraft → Photoshop 🎬 FilmCraft → Premiere 📸 LightCraft → Lightroom ✏️ VectorCraft → Illustrator Free, no subscription, runs on Windows, Mac & Linux (some even in your browser). The catch? It’s still early alpha, with 1,600+ open issues on GitHub. And the legal side is a big question mark. Would you switch from Adobe to a free AI clone?
