Tomorrow, the doors close... but the story is just beginning.

This Sunday, September 20, marks the very last day of my exhibition at the Museum Belvedere, in the heart of Friesland.

Placing my work in such a serene and light-filled place went beyond the exhibition: it was a total immersion, a raw dialogue between the Dutch land and the power of creation.
Every glance, every suspended silence, every thrill shared in front of a canvas has infused a unique soul into this journey.
A huge thank you to the Museum Belvédère for its exceptional welcome, and to each of you for this vibrant energy that has brought my work to life on a daily basis.
If you're in the area, come and share those final moments with me before the dropout.

When Art Becomes a Fight of the Century Connecting Friesland to the World.

Solo Exhibition | Until September 20, 2026
Museum Belvédère, Heerenveen (Friesland, Netherlands)

An Invitation to a Sensory and Political Dialogue
Museum Belvédère is not merely hosting a contemporary art exhibition. This summer, beneath the Frisian sky, it becomes the epicenter of a raw and universal human dialogue.
Behind the sweetness of chocolate often hides the bitter taste of history. Museum Belvédère invites you to cross a cultural bridge through the compelling work of Fransix Tenda Lomba.
Born in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and based in Amsterdam, the multidisciplinary artist weaves together drawings, paintings, sculptures, and animations to dissect global power networks and the trade of raw materials that bind our continents together.

THE SHOWSTOPPING INSTALLATION
“THE BATTLE OF LIFE” (LA BATAILLE DE LA VIE)

In 1974, Kinshasa hosted the legendary "Rumble in the Jungle" between Muhammad Ali and George Foreman, a fight that marked history forever. Fifty-two years later, Fransix Tenda Lomba reinterprets that fighting spirit in a monumental installation.
By combining crumpled aluminum, wood, and acrylic, he crafts a powerful metaphor for everyday existence.
The bent and dented aluminum embodies the blows received, resilience under pressure, and the unyielding spark of human dignity.
The wood and acrylic paint ground the piece in memory, post-colonial history, and the raw beauty of struggle.
An intensely human work of art that will not leave you untouched

"Friesland didn’t just open its doors to the Congo. It gave it its walls."

Since 20 June, the Belvédère Museum has been the setting for an unprecedented geopolitical and sensory experience with Fransix TENDA’s solo exhibition “Bittersweet Taste of Chocolate”.

Through the living ink of liquid chocolate, Fransix transforms Friesland into a global cultural bridge, linking the heart of Kinshasa to the horizons of Heerenveen. The exhibition continues — come and experience a shared memory.

Mienskip transforms a local landscape into a temporary capital of world art. The visual juxtaposition of the green Dutch landscapes and the raw texture of liquid chocolate. “The Congo is on display in Friesland. History is being written here.

“A bridge does not remain open forever. Cross it before 20 September.”

The Liquid Shock of Fransix Tenda Lomba

When chocolate becomes the geopolitical ink connecting Friesland to the world.
Solo exhibition from 20 June to 20 September 2026 Belvedere Museum, Heerenveen (Friesland, Netherlands)

An invitation to sensory and political dialogue
The Belvedere Museum is not only offering an exhibition of contemporary art. This summer, under the sky of Friesland, it becomes the epicenter of a dialogue of a raw and universal humanity.

Through his internationally renowned series, Fransix Tenda Lomba (alumnus of the prestigious Rijksakademie in Amsterdam) takes up a material that is both sweet and challenging: liquid chocolate.
In this project, cocoa is no longer just a consumer product. It is the fuel of a system. A living ink.

The artist draws the invisible bridges that connect Central African plantations to the world's consumers. This sweet and bitter liquid becomes the vector of economic, political, cultural and social connections of unprecedented strength. It embodies the "shock" - both the clash of cultures, the post-colonial violence of the cocoa value chain, and the softness of human sharing around the same global table.

She flows through history, linking her family's intimate archives in Kinshasa to the archives of multinational chocolate companies. By bringing this organic material to the heart of Friesland, a land of landscapes and united communities (Mienskip), the Belvedere Museum is transformed into a laboratory of global empathy. It is no longer art that we observe, it is a common memory that we breathe."

For the very first time, the @memorialcaen opens its doors to the powerful voices of Sub-Saharan Africa. At the heart of this vital journey of memory stands "Kelasi", a deeply moving film by Fransix Tenda Kelasi, produced by Atelier Graphoui.
Kelasi is a raw, profoundly human dive into Congolese classrooms. It navigates the delicate space between nostalgia, colonial scars, and an unstoppable thirst for the future. It is the story of millions of children, and an entire identity being reclaimed.
A breathtaking piece that doesn’t just look back at the past—it forces us to truly see the present.

On screen now at the Mémorial de Caen. Come feel the pulse of this living memory.

The Chukudu of Thoughts

This wall installation was made by visual artist Fransix Tenda Lomba, in collaboration with participants from BOOST. Between March and September 2025, Fransix was at BOOST every week, talking with people in order to create an artwork. Before he began, one thing was for certain: the artwork had to look like a bicycle, one of the most recognizable symbols of Amsterdam. The bicycles are based on the chukudu from Congo, a two-wheeled handmade vehicle used to transport cargo.

Fransix posed three questions to participants, staff, and volunteers at BOOST. Their answers, seen here on the wall, are written out or drawn. Some stories are short, while others are lengthy. Some stories are in Dutch, while others are told in a different language. Some stories consist of words, while some are only drawings.

Fransix moved to the Netherlands in 2021 to conduct research at the Rijksakademie. He came to BOOST together with his wife to learn Dutch. In the course of the conversations for this art installation, Fransix discovered that the people who visit BOOST have often lived in different places in the Netherlands. For them, obtaining residence status in this country takes a long time, and in the meantime they must often change homes. For this reason, Fransix made not just one, but twelve bicycles: one for each province of the Netherlands. Each bicycle represents the story of a newcomer to the Netherlands. The bicycles symbolize resilience. They can be seen as links between different cultural backgrounds. taken in Amsterdam, Netherlands by @tendafransix
