Some people don't just teach wisdom. They consistently pour into the growth of others. 💜

Saturday's @limitlesswomanofficial Authentic Conversations Coffee morning with Pastor @sarahgarande was rich with lessons on growth, focus, fruitfulness and restoration.

One reminder stayed with me:

🎯Restoration = Nourishment + Time.

Not every season of growth can be rushed.

Beyond this beautiful teaching, I celebrate Pastor Sarah for her consistent investment in mentoring, teaching and nurturing others.

Sometimes we celebrate the fruit and forget to acknowledge those who nurture the roots.

Thank you, Pastor Sarah, for continuing to pour. 💜

Some seasons look strong from the outside and feel incredibly heavy on the inside.

I’m learning that honesty does not require overexposure. I can protect my privacy and still tell the truth about what this season has required of me.

These little lives are not a distraction from purpose.
My boys are a worthy assignment.
A sacred responsibility.
A life I don’t want to rush past while chasing everything else.

World Mental Health Day 💜

🎯Not everything deserves the same amount of your emotional energy.

Sometimes wellbeing is learning to ask:
🔋 Does this really matter?
🔋 Is this mine to carry?
🔋 What deserves my attention right now?

Then come boundaries 🙅🏾‍♀️ around our time, access and what we keep trying to fix. 🚪

And from a girl who was, in many ways, saved by penguins 🐧: Be in community.🫂

You do not have to carry every cold season alone.

Maybe the better question is not,
🥀“How do I cope with everything?”

but:

⚘️“What can I stop carrying?”

Some of your most valuable career capital is built outside your job. 🏆

The Penguin Speaker™ was recognised at the @_worktree Volunteer Awards for its contribution to careers education, and it gave me a chance to reflect on what volunteering has quietly taught me.

✨ Your skills are bigger than your job title.
✨ Contribution compounds.
✨ Service can create visibility without visibility being the motive.
✨ Volunteering develops confidence, communication and leadership.
✨ Career growth is not always a promotion , sometimes it is becoming more useful.

The award is lovely.

But the bigger win is knowing that something you shared may have widened a young person’s view of what is possible. 💚

Impact is often built long before it is acknowledged.

I went to the retreat to speak about doors🚪…

As I prepared the message, I kept thinking about how differently doors function.

1️⃣Automatic door - reminded me that not everything has to be forced. Sometimes, you simply have to keep moving and get close enough.

2️⃣Security door - made me think about access and how not every room is ours to enter just because we want to. It can also be one where you must first close the door behind you before you open another door.

3️⃣Revolving door - challenged me most. Because you can be moving, busy and putting in effort… yet still find yourself back in the same place.

4️⃣Fire door - reminded me that some doors are closed for a reason. Their purpose is protection.

That landed differently for me.

🎯Because there have been seasons when I have questioned closed doors, tried harder, stayed longer, or wondered what I was doing wrong.

But perhaps every closed door isn't something to overcome.

Perhaps some are doing exactly what they were designed to do.

That is one of the reflections I shared the Victorious Women Prayer Retreat :

Before I ask God to open a door, I want the wisdom to understand its purpose.

And before I force one, I want the discernment to know whether it is actually mine to walk through.

One of the most personal moments from my speech last night. 💜🎤

I spoke about my dearest friend Sarah @the_timefreeinvestor , who initially a fellow school mum who, during a difficult season, simply pulled me into the huddle.

Sometimes the people who help us most don’t even realise the weight of what they did.

🫂They noticed.
🫂They included us.
🫂They made the journey lighter.

A reminder to acknowledge the people who have aided your journey and, where you can, become part of someone else’s huddle too. 🐧✨

I won an award last night! 🏆💜

I had the pleasure of attending the Worktree Awards at the Volkswagen National Learning Centre, where I was recognised for my volunteering and also got to share a few words about why volunteering matters to me personally.

We often talk about volunteering in terms of what we give.

But we don’t talk enough about what it gives back.

For me, volunteering has brought:

🐧Connection
🐧Perspective
🐧Community
🐧Purpose

And I think that matters when we talk about wellbeing too.

Sometimes, wellbeing isn’t only found in rest or doing more for ourselves.

Sometimes, it is found in remembering that our lives can make a difference to someone else.

There is something powerful about sharing your story, your career journey, or simply your time with a young person and helping them see what might be possible.

Volunteering benefits the people we serve, yes.

But it can also remind the volunteer:

I still have something meaningful to give.

Thank you Worktree the recognition and for creating opportunities for people to share, connect and inspire the next generation. 💜🌱

Stop permanently auditioning

There is a stage in your career where constantly proving you deserve to be there becomes expensive.

▪️You overprepare.
▪️Overdeliver.
▪️Volunteer.
▪️Say yes.
▪️Take on the difficult work.

And continue behaving as though somebody is still deciding whether you belong.

Eventually, the question needs to change from:

🥀“How do I prove myself?”

to:

⚘️“Where can I create the highest value?”

That is a very different professional posture. by @tendai_annah
