The Kitchen. Gutted in the weeks leading up to the birth of our third child and finished a few weeks after her birth, this truly is the heart of the home. A Kitchen Reno isn’t for the faint of heart. We survived on a PBJ assembly line and weeks of post-baby meal deliveries. Keeping the original footprint intact certainly sped up the project (and helped with cost). We maximized storage by taking cabinetry to the ceiling, eliminated a bulky base cabinet in favor of a small seating area, added a backsplash for dimension/texture and wall protection, and greatly increased natural light and indoor/outdoor flow by increasing the window size above the sink and adding sliders to the patio (a later project!). Spent a long weekend in London with my Mom celebrating her birthday while wandering through lovely gardens, soaking up beautiful architecture and interiors, and enjoying leisurely meals. Thank you @jenbarnestravel and the best husband and Pop for helping me pull off this surprise birthday trip! I love how traveling gives us opportunities to try new things, bring home new ideas, and even remind us what we love most about home. #tenfourhome by @tenfourhome

Loved giving this old building new life as the @corcoranclassicliving Watkinsville Office. We found so many cool details hiding under layers of paneling, carpet, and drop ceilings. We decided to cover a few areas but left many exposed to reveal the story of the space over time. Simple elegance for this Guest Bathroom in a whole home renovation. From cabinetry design to plumbing, tile, and lighting selections, this space was gutted and given a fresh start. “When are you going to share more about your personal renovation??” To be honest, it’s taken almost a year to recover. It’s been a long, slow process. This time last year, I quit sharing. I was burned out: out of fun things to share, unenthusiastic, passing the original move in date one day (or month) at a time, way over budget, just plain tired. But…we made it, and we love it. And we are still friends with all parties involved (not always the case!). We’ve put things on the walls, we’ve shuffled furniture around, and layered in many meaningful pieces. And one day soon…I’ll share more. As with any old, wonky house, we still have a list of future projects and small problems to tease out. For now, we host community group, neighbors, and college students. It’s a revolving door of friends and family and a few contractors here and there. This is my favorite walk to take multiple times every day. Old and new. Us and them. Exposed and layered. Storied and adding stories by the day. Site Visits: When many important details are worked out with homeowners, vendors and/or contractors in the space. Currently: two fireplace remodels, paneling details for a dining room refresh, and reviewing proportions and trim details on new dormer gables. Cheers to cooler, cozier Fall days ahead! This Primary Bedroom transformation was a fun one. I initially walked into the space and wondered why the bed was on the short wall. Turns out the homeowners just put it where the previous family had it and never considered another option. Sometimes another perspective on something you’ve just gotten used to over time is a game changer. Flipping the bed wall and using the existing rug as a launching point for adding color truly transformed this room into a cozy retreat for these busy parents.
