My life is full of side quests

Let me tell you about the time I made candles that were inspired by Tuberose. I named the collection After Hour Flowers and sold them at hotel gift shops & museums in San Diego. Such a fun moment, just doing stuff for the plot 😂

For the Yearner in U

I wanted to share this with all the people who support me that don’t live in San Diego.

My story is a little different than most. I wasn’t deemed a musical child prodigy nor did I grow up playing in bands. I’m an art nerd who decided at her grown age to make music. I really appreciate the folks who speak life into what I do and the kind words to keep going.

I love you 🌹

Back in July, I had a conversation with @sylshann about my return to the stage after spending 6 years dedicating my time to producing music. So many what ifs with a dash of anxiety. She mentioned one of the biggest superstars she worked with still get nervous before hitting the stage and we would never know. Just do it!

Very grateful for the opportunity to reintroduce myself to the local San Diego music scene.
Thank you @thelocalpyle for making this happen.
Thank you @michael.flix for documenting the journey

A fun time I wanted to share with y’all 🥰

Someone asked me recently why I tend to create retro sounding music. This is the answer. San Diego has become a hub for artists of yesteryear. A place where they can get the respect$ and love$ they deserve. Thank you to all the promoters with great taste in music. 💜

A lot of my fellow local musicians pay homage by covering songs which keeps the music alive too but I would definitely implore you to see the living legends while they’re still here. by @tennesseetina

Tennessee Tina reached into the Teena Marie catalog for this rendition of “Out on a Limb.”

Originally released in 1984 during the Starchild era, the song lives in that space Lady T wrote so well: romance, surrender and vulnerability without losing musical strength.

I like seeing artists revisit records beyond the obvious hits. It keeps the deeper catalog alive and gives another generation a reason to go back and listen.

What’s your favorite Teena Marie deep cut?
