Finished my performance response for Robyn Breen’s Weathering Chapter 4.

For WIP Wednesday I thought I would share some progress shots of my fibre/textile response to Robyn Breen’s Weathering from the recent Festival of New Dance. The soundscore was such an integral part of the choreography that I just had to pull in some of the lyrics from different songs. Robyn’s work beautifully captured the Newfoundland sense of humour mixed with clever movement sequences and the brilliant score. My response work mainly mixes a combination of embroidery and needle felting. Thanks again to Neighbourhood Dance Works and the Anna Templeton Centre for making my residency possible.

That’s a wrap for day 1 of “making” during my residency at the Festival of New Dance in St. John’s. I think I will end up making two pieces but I’ve started with a response to Robyn Breen’s “Weathering Chapter 4”. Experimenting with embroidering in fingering weight yarn. Fun to hang out in the Anna Templeton Centre this afternoon.
