God’s Love We Deliver is thrilled to recognize President & CEO @terrencemeck’s inclusion on the 2026 @TIME 100 Most Influential People in Philanthropy! This honor reflects not only his extraordinary leadership and commitment to service, but also the growing national recognition of food as medicine and its positive effects for those affected by illness.

Terrence’s leadership is deeply personal and rooted in compassion. After losing his husband, Rand, to pancreatic cancer in 2008, he experienced firsthand the critical role that nourishing meals and human connection can play during serious illness. That profound loss inspired a lifelong commitment to philanthropy and strengthened his belief in food is medicine and food is love.

As Terrence said, “Looking back, I can see how every part of my life, even profound loss, ultimately guided me to this work. I feel incredibly grateful to be exactly where I am supposed to be, alongside the God’s Love We Deliver community.”

Food is medicine - and today at Liberty BKLYN, God’s Love We Deliver welcomed Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis (NY-11) for a tour, meal packing activity, and press conference marking an important step forward for the Food Is Medicine movement.

On September 16, Congresswoman Malliotakis joined her colleagues on the House Ways and Means Committee in voting unanimously to advance H.R. 5439, the bipartisan Medically Tailored Home-Delivered Meals Program Pilot Act.

If enacted, this legislation would establish a six-year Medicare pilot to evaluate how medically tailored meals and medical nutrition therapy affect health outcomes, hospital readmissions, healthcare utilization, costs, and patient and caregiver experiences.

We are grateful to see growing bipartisan support for policies that recognize the power of the Bill. Congresswoman Malliotakis said, “By expanding access to medically tailored meals, we can improve health outcomes and reduce healthcare costs—it’s a win-win. We hope to see this legislation move forward to a vote of the full House and ultimately become law.”

In response to the Congresswoman’s visit, GLWD President & CEO @TerrenceMeck said, “Today, at Liberty BKLYN, our new meal distribution center, [Congresswoman Malliotakis] saw firsthand the care and coordination behind every one of those [medically tailored meal] deliveries. We thank the Congresswoman for championing the bipartisan Medically Tailored Home-Delivered Meals Program Pilot Act and helping it advance through the Ways and Means Committee.”

Last night, @saks welcomed our President & CEO @terrencemeck, friends of God’s Love, and special guests for an exclusive shopping event showcasing the newest Michael Kors Collection (straight off the Fashion Week runway!).

📢 Big policy news for food is medicine! 📢

The House Ways and Means Committee voted 39-0 to advance H.R. 5439, the Medically Tailored Home-Delivered Meals Program Act.

Led by Reps. Nicole Malliotakis (R-NY-11) and Jim McGovern (D-MA-02), this bipartisan bill would create a six-year Medicare pilot through at least 40 hospitals, helping eligible older adults receive medically tailored meals and nutrition support after leaving the hospital. 🙌

From our President & CEO Terrence Meck (@TerrenceMeck): “God’s Love is excited for the transformative opportunity that this legislation will have in improving the health and well-being of New Yorkers and individuals nationwide. We are excited for the opportunity to further advance healthcare through the power of Food Is Medicine.”

For many seniors managing chronic illness, the road to recovery doesn’t end when they leave the hospital—it often continues in the kitchen. What a patient eats in the weeks after a diagnosis is just as important as the medicine they receive from their healthcare provider.

❓ Why MTMs? Medically tailored meals delivered to people with life-altering illnesses are a low-cost, high-impact intervention and can be an essential tool for continued at-home care.

🏠 Discharged patients who live at home and require dietician-approved diets would receive the meals. The pilot is designed without needing to draw on taxpayer dollars.

This is truly a milestone moment in the food is medicine movement. We are profoundly grateful for the hard work of Reps. Malliotakis (@nmalliotakis) and McGovern (@RepMcGovern) and all those in the House Ways and Means Committee, our colleagues in the @FIMCoalition, and the hundreds of advocates who are working tirelessly to pass this bill into law so that people across the country can receive the nutrition they deserve. by @terrencemeck

Earlier today, God’s Love joined UNIITE For Good at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum (@intrepidmuseum) to pack meals alongside NYC Service @nycservice, New York Cares @newyorkcares, hundreds of volunteers from across NYC, and Mayor Mamdani (@nycmayor).

Service has always been at the heart of God’s Love. Every day, our volunteers show up for our neighbors by chopping, packing and delivering meals with care. This year, we’re proud to join 9/11 Day in recognizing the 25th anniversary of September 11 through service and acts of good.

How’d I do? 😂 If you didn’t catch this tidbit in the video, God’s Love scoops 5,500 desserts a day and today we scooped/packed/labeled carrot oat cookies! 😋 Every $10 funds a meal to nourish a New Yorker affected by illness and every $100 funds a week of meals.
