What a strange week. Had lovely friends visit - we talked a lot about our fledging children. My youngest is off to do a semester in Norway next week for his History degree.
The swallow fledglings in the car port are just at the point of test flights - losing their fluff and gaining muscle, ready for the long haul to Africa.
Fleetingly then had both sons home - a rare event that felt both familiar and alien all at once.
Eldest drove me and him to Swansea airport to jump out of a plane (something I’ve always wanted to do - and if you’ve ever fancied it, do it, it’s amazing)
Then, in the blink of an eye, the house is just me and the hubby again, and he’s fixing a gate and I’m washing eggshells to crush up to put round my courgettes.
So this week has felt like I’m Mr Benn. One minute fearlessly jumping out of a plane, one minute washing eggshells. One minute a parent, one minute feeling like I’m the one being parented.
It’s just a funny old world and sometimes it’s a bit discombobulating. I assumed (when I was young) that one day I would feel sure and solid and certain. Now I’m sure I never will 😆 but I definitely didn’t think I’d be washing eggshells on a Tuesday morning. by @tessafterall
