It’s almost been a week since we welcomed our girl into the world, and we’ve already learned so much.

Her birth story was the perfect extension of what it has looked like building our story as a couple, and now family.

Follow the peace, steward each moment you’re handed, and hold your own plans loosely, because odds are, whatever is going to happen is different from what you planned, and better than anything you could have dreamed of. Downtown Dallas and The Adolphus Hotel specifically have always marked milestone moments for us, so it was only fitting to announce our next chapter in the place where it all started. We are so unbelievably excited. 🤍

• Round Top, Texas

We were able to escape our routine last weekend and head to the middle of Texas. Maybe it’s just because we love collecting furniture, but there is something magical about wandering through tons of vintage finds from dealers all over the globe.
Round Top usually has a population of 100 and a few times a year, over 100,000 people flood the small town with some of the most unique curations. Absolutely insane to me that this is only a few hours from Dallas.

Year after year, I am amazed how life gets fuller, lovelier, more full of life. Andrew and I sit back and reflect constantly on our world around us and think wow. This is beyond our wildest dreams. But simultaneously, life is unraveling as it is raveling. Loss happens along the way. Despite all of the beauty and the wonder, it feels urgent - and I feel desperate to cling to what is good and holy. Gratitude is the antidote. I repeat.

I am reminded as I age that we were not meant to experience the world without God. It is not physically possible to stay in the lane of hope without his spirit guiding my soul back into alignment. A series of unraveling events over a lifetime without the presence of God is most definitely enough to make a person bitter.

And without Him- to be clear He never leaves. I’ll rephrase.

If and when I keep my heart in its box and do not let the Spirit of God in to help where it hurts, I distract myself. I fill my minutes with work, productivity, to-do lists. I “move forward,” or maybe I just move constantly? I pull and tug and shuffle so that I can stay numb. And then every few seasons, He has to remind me. I wasn’t made for numb.

Is life just heartbreak after heartbreak? Of course not. But loving big does require losing big. The fullness of life makes all of the love worth it but - my goodness. We were never meant to experience pain or loss without the closeness and tenderness of God. Guiding us, guiding me back into softness. by @tevahgodfrey
