Leaders like Caelix Kidwell helped push both the team and the vehicle to new levels.

A May 2025 Aerospace Engineering graduate, Caelix served as Head of TLO and later Head of Propulsion, leading through some of TREL’s most demanding and defining phases. From closing out design to preparing Halcyon for its first full test campaign, his leadership sat at the center of both technical execution and test operations.

Long days, often 14–16 hours, weeks of iteration, and constant problem solving defined the push to get Halcyon ready. That effort carried from design rooms to test operations in West Texas, and ultimately to Spaceport America, where the team successfully static fired the vehicle multiple times.

After graduating, Caelix joined SpaceX as a Components Engineer working on Starship, serving as a responsible engineer for valves, a role that demands both technical ownership and system-level awareness. TREL played a critical role in preparing him for that step. Beyond technical skills, it built fluency in industry language, expectations, and problem solving at scale. Just as importantly, it fostered a culture of collaboration, where teams work through the night to solve hard problems together, building not just experience, but lasting professional relationships.
