2025 was a monumental year for TEXSAR.
We answered more calls than ever before, through severe weather and moments of crisis.

It required more training, deeper resilience, and an unwavering commitment from our volunteers, partners, and supporters. Because of that dedication, TEXSAR stands stronger, more capable, and more prepared than ever.

As we move into 2026, one thing is clear: we are ready for the call. Wherever and whenever it comes.

There’s something special about neighbors coming together, meeting their local first responders, learning about other local resources, and building connections that make our communities stronger. ❤️

TEXSAR was glad to attend several National Night Out events this week, connecting with community members and fellow public safety partners. These gatherings are a wonderful reminder that preparedness starts with connection. Getting to know the people and public agencies in your community helps build trust, strengthen relationships, and ensures we’re better connected when it matters most.

Thank you to everyone who showed up, hosted, and supported National Night Out events in your communities this week! And if you still have an event coming up this weekend, we hope you have a great turnout.

Here’s to stronger connections, safer communities, and neighbors looking out for neighbors. by @texsar

We’re still looking back on some of the special moments from this year’s Search Party, and today, we want to give a special shout-out.

@judge722 has been a longtime TEXSAR supporter, current advisory board member, and prior board member, and she is always the first to raise her hand when sponsorship opportunities open.

While she wasn’t able to attend Search Party this year for the first time in several years, she found a way still be present. She stepped up with special gift sponsoring the 'Last Man Standing', helping us raise more than $12,000 in just a few minutes.

Beth, thank you for always keeping TEXSAR in mind, believing in our mission and finding a way to support our volunteers. We are so grateful for you. 🧡 by @texsar

Preparedness isn’t just about putting a kit together, it’s about making sure it’s ready when you actually need it.

Our K9 handlers think about preparedness the same way. They’re constantly working to keep their canines ready through training, conditioning and making sure they have the right nutrition to fuel the work.

A big thank you to @nulopetfood for helping keep our K9s fueled and ready for the call.

Whether you have two legs or four, being prepared starts before you need it.

What an incredible evening.

Thank you to everyone who made the 11th Annual TEXSAR Search Party an unforgettable night.

It’s the one night each year when we pause to celebrate the people who support our mission, and boy, did y’all show up in a big way.

It was our biggest Search Party yet, a record-breaking night and the most we have ever raised at this event.

It was heartfelt, moving, and filled with moments that brought tears of joy and gratitude. The TEXSAR mission continues because of the people who cheer us on and the volunteers who show up when the call comes.

To our sponsors, vendors, supporters, volunteers, and the incredible team at the @renaustinhotel thank you for making this night possible.

Because of you, we were able to raise $682,000 to support the TEXSAR mission.

We are so grateful. ❤️

There’s a lot that goes into a search, and sometimes that means knowing what you’re looking at.

This month, forensic anthropologist Mark Ingram is traveling to each of TEXSAR’s four divisions to teach our volunteers about bone identification. It’s a unique opportunity to learn from someone who brings a specialized perspective to the work we do in the field.

Thank you, Mark! by @texsar

We currently have several positions available, including:
• Division Chief (Four Available) - Gulf Coast, North Texas, Central Texas, South Central Texas
• Administrative Specialist
• Development Specialist

If you’re looking for an opportunity to put your skills to work in support of a mission that makes a difference across Texas, we’d love to hear from you.

Happy National Dog Day to the dogs behind the mission.

Today, we're celebrating the TEXSAR K9s that make up our team.

So far this year, TEXSAR K9s have deployed to over 60 missions and dedicated countless hours to training because every successful search begins long before a mission is ever requested.

Across Texas, our K9s and their handlers continually train to strengthen the skills, trust, and partnership needed to locate the missing.

Thank you to @nulopetfood for helping fuel our K-9 team so they're ready to answer the call.

Habanero 135: Reflections of a Pacer

It’s only August, but I will go ahead and call it. The achievement I am most proud of in 2026 is pacing @zednemsira for the Habanero 135. @trailracingovertexas

Last year he did the 100-mile race and wanted to level up to the 135-mile version this year. He asked @_ellisontherun and me to pace him. We of course agreed.

Few things are more rewarding than helping a friend achieve their goals. He managed to finish 2nd overall and 1st place male. There are some things we can improve for next year. The three of us have been trading notes on that.

We showed up early in the morning Saturday, right after he finished 50 miles. Then over the next 18 hours we traded 10k loops pacing in heat that reached 103 F. Texas Search and Rescue pulled more than one person off course. But we made sure to stay hydrated and fed. We also used Feed bandannas full of ice to help keep our core temperatures down. I only started to really feel the heat around mile 4 of each 6-mile loop.

After finishing a loop, I immediately hydrated and consumed calories. Then I refilled my soft bladders and placed them on ice in my Yeti. (Despite the temperatures, my Yeti kept ice all day after I filled it at 4 AM.) I then removed my wet (from sweat) socks and shoes and placed them in the sun to dry. It was so hot that my shoes were completely dry by the time I had to head out for a new loop. Finally, I laid in a lounge chair and tried to nap, which I was not able to successfully do, but the relaxation was good.
