Today, we honor Juneteenth—a celebration of freedom, resilience, and the enduring pursuit of progress. While June 19, 1865 marked the delayed arrival of freedom for enslaved African Americans, it also reminds us that true liberation requires continuous action, advocacy, and opportunity.

At The First in Our Generation Foundation, we remain committed to empowering the next generation through education, mentorship, and access—because freedom is not only about where we’ve been, but about what we’re able to become.

As we celebrate Juneteenth, let us reflect on the sacrifices of those who came before us and recommit ourselves to building a future where every student has the opportunity to thrive.

Congratulations to our cohort one scholars of the Financial Literacy Program. These ten scholars will have the opportunity to gain financial literacy over the next three months, in partnership with the Office of Financial Literacy at Clark Atlanta University and sponsored by Experian.

“HBCUs are the misunderstood, God-given source to mankind.”

I am immensely grateful for the opportunity to speak for HBCU Sunday at the historic Ebenezer Baptist Church (@ebenezer_atl). We must continue to stress its importance and provide the necessary support to those attending. I founded The First in Our Generation Foundation (@tfiog_) to address three key needs for HBCU students: financial literacy, mentorship, and career development. Although these are all important, there is still more to do.

My story is no different than the average HBCU student, which speaks to the collective power that lies within the walls of an HBCU. We start, we matriculate, and we graduate. @cau1988 made! by @tfiog_
