Two years ago, I probably wouldn’t have claimed it, but my father and I are a lot alike. The grit. The honesty--whether you want to hear it or not. The fight in us to go after what we want and to make something happen when we believe in it.

Today, the City of Trenton honored my father with Kenneth Bullock Grove and I’m proud of what this sign represents.

It honors a man whose commitment to his city wasn’t just something he talked about--it was something he practiced. The free haircuts. The toy drives. The fish fries. The pantry. The countless ways he gave, served, and showed up for people without needing recognition for it.

As I get older, I see more clearly the pieces of him that live in me. And maybe I’m finally willing to claim them, too.

May my father’s legacy of giving continue to live through me. May this grove grow alongside the community he poured into near our family home. And may this sign always be a reminder to our family that what we build, how we serve, and what we leave behind matters.

This is legacy. This is family. This is Trenton. ❤️ by @thablocktrenton

Liberty, With Conditions is an exhibition and immersive dinner experience looking at the different wars Black people and communities have had to navigate in the pursuit of freedom. It starts with the contradiction of 1776...America fighting for liberty while Black people were still enslaved and uses that as a jumping-off point to look at how those same questions show up across generations.

We’re exploring **War Within Self + Identity, War Within Community, War With Systems, Freedom + Survival, and Wars Created by Impossible Choices.** It’s historical, but it’s also very much about now.

We currently have an **open call for artists** to respond to these ideas through their own work. The response doesn’t have to be about the Revolutionary War or 1776 specifically...it can be **historical, contemporary, personal, ancestral, local, or global.** Existing work and proposals for new work across disciplines are welcome.

It says AI content for the QR code I'm guessing🙄🙄 by @thablocktrenton

@dearblockgirl last gathering saw fems discuss their experiences with their mothers, the absence of a mother, and being a mother themselves. Laughs and tears were exchanged along with stories. This is what community building can look like. Don’t miss out on their next gathering in March. by @thablocktrenton

We started off Black History Month with a collaborative teach in with @tcnjbsu on Pan Africanism. We discussed the politics of Pan Africanism according to the revolutionary Kwame Nkrumah and students were able to grasp a foundational understanding of Black liberation. by @thablocktrenton
