Well… I guess the cat’s officially out the bag. Thank y’all for every call, text, message, prayer, and word of encouragement. I’m truly honored (and I’ll be honest… there’s still a little part of me looking around like, “Y’all really trusted me to help lead this organization? Ya’ll actually voted for me to do this?” . Knowing how passionate, intentional, and yes… a little extra I can be sometimes, I don’t take that trust lightly.

Serving as the new Community Co-Chair of @houstoncpg is more than a title it’s personal. HIV has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. Growing up with cousins born with HIV in the ’90s shaped how I see this work, and experiences like Camp Hope from dropping my cousins off as a kid to later serving as Camp Counselor, Camp Coordinator, and eventually Camp Director reminded me that purpose has a funny way of bringing you full circle.

If you would’ve told young Adonis he’d end up leading in public health, I probably would’ve laughed. As someone living HIV-negative, I’ve learned that allyship isn’t defined by your status ,it’s defined by your willingness to show up.

My passion has always been making sure people have access to prevention, treatment, care, compassion, and dignity, regardless of race, gender identity, sexual orientation, ZIP code, or income. During this administration, one of my biggest goals is to help make CPGHouston, in partnership with the Houston Health Department since 1993, more visible, more approachable, and more connected to the communities we serve. We won’t just meet in boardrooms we’ll be in neighborhoods, building partnerships, listening, advocating, and making sure community always has a seat at the table. Thank y’all for believing in me. 🤝 Collaboration in Action 🤝
Partnership is how we move prevention forward.
The Houston HIV Prevention Community Planning Group (CPG), in collaboration with Brazos Valley TAAP and AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF), is proud to support this important HIV/STI Training for professionals committed to strengthening HIV prevention and sexual health across Texas.

We’re especially proud that our Community Co-Chair, Adonis, will serve as one of the featured presenters, providing sexual health training to more than 100 public health professionals, healthcare providers, counselors, and community advocates. By sharing evidence-based strategies, real-world experiences, and community-centered approaches, this training helps strengthen the workforce that’s on the front lines of HIV prevention every day.

In addition to the training, AHF will provide FREE HIV and STI testing and sexual health screenings for attendees because education and access go hand in hand.

This is what collaboration looks like: organizations coming together, sharing expertise, and investing in healthier communities.

This weekend I had the honor of speaking again at THE BEST HBCU, b.k.a The Prairie View A&M University for the Prairie View Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and in collaboration with AHF & BLACC and baybeh… it was SUCH a good time.

We had a real, honest conversation about sexual health… no shame, no judgment… just facts, community, and empowerment. And I’m grateful because they were truly engaged, asked the right questions, and left that room more informed than they came in.

It also reminded me of something I think we ALL need to hear sometimes… never underestimate what you do day to day. I get clowned every now and then for being too long-winded, especially since being coached and guided by numerous ppl while working with TEDx (TEDx Thirdward ), but it continues to cultivate me as a better speaker, facilitator, and writer.

Just because it becomes routine for you doesn’t mean it’s not life-changing for somebody else. Impact doesn’t always come with applause… sometimes it comes in one person feeling seen, educated, and safe enough to make a better decision. The Deltas were as Devastating and Delightful as always.

So yes… this was my first speaking engagement of 2026, and I’m thankful. Hopefully it won’t be the last. And I’m officially putting it on my 2026 goals list… I want to provide sexual health education presentations for ALL of the sororities of the D9!

If your chapter, campus, or organization is interested… holla atcha boy!! Black women are treasures, and I always want to do my part to show and inform them in any way I can. Let’s continue to build wellness, knowledge, and community intentionally. 🫶🏾 by @thapplzchamp

Guess how I spent my Friday… giving back to kids from marginalized, underserved backgrounds. As an alum of Alief ISD, it always hits different when you get to pour back into the same soil that helped grow you. A lot of folks know me for public health, sexual health, advocacy, all of that work… but giving back has always been near and dear to my heart. This time, it was strictly about the kids. No agenda. No titles. Just love.

We partnered with a org in the S.W.A.T and were able to give over 30 free haircuts to some truly deserving kids. It didn’t stop there over 30 bicycles,AirPods,gift cards,clothes, electronics and countless toys. And listen… who better to do it than two of the coldest barbers in Houston and two of my closest homeboys. I’m beyond grateful. These are the same guys who have always answered the call for Camp HOPE, pulling up and showing out without hesitation. For this moment and the ones coming next, I appreciate y’all more than words can say.

Huge shout out to Ms. Linda, the woman who put this whole thing together. What started as a simple coffee shop conversation by mistake turned into something powerful, and this is only the beginning of what The Minorities Initiative (TMI)is going to be.

@wes.fresh , big bro, thank you for always showing up and showing out. You’re a real gem and have a heart of gold! My Primo @bladesworldandco there has never been a time I’ve called you and you didn’t answer. The love and appreciation I have for you honestly doesn’t even scratch the surface. Jose the way you handled those kids with special needs deserve an award alone! Y’all are heaven sent, truly. Watching the way you spoke to those kids and poured into them meant everything.

I don’t know what the holiday season looks like for everyone, but my hope is that you find time to pour into others. It doesn’t have to be money. It can be time. Presence. Kindness. And if it is monetary, cool… just make it easier for someone else however you can.

On 4/2….Today I celebrate another journey around the sun. Another trip around the sun… and baybeh, I don’t take a single step of it for granted. I’ve laughed, I’ve lost, I’ve leveled up and through it all, grace held me. This birthday ain’t just a celebration, it’s a testament to endurance, evolution, and elevation. I’m thankful for the lessons that humbled me, the people who poured into me, and the moments that reminded me of my worth. Cheers to more purpose, more peace, and more powerful alignment.

Let’s get into what’s next. I’m accepting love in all forms: hugs, texts, prayers, well wishes vibes,and that sweet little chime from CashApp for my Sonic Slushee addiction 🤤😏😂. Whoo… baybeh, what an experience!

I’m used to working in the field of public health, focusing on a specific subset of my community, but this? This was something different. Something expansive. Being a part of this TEDx journey from collaborating with the curator team, handling logistics and operations, and assisting with coaching some of the most powerful speakers has been nothing short of a blessing. It stretched me, took me out of my element, and reminded me that growth ain’t always comfortable, but it’s always necessary.

To every speaker, volunteer team member who poured into this moment thank you. Your energy, your dedication, and your commitment to excellence made this unmatched. This wasn’t just an event; this was a movement, a testament to what happens when passion meets purpose.

If this experience taught me anything, it’s this never let the world pigeonhole you into a box. You are not one thing, one title, one lane. You are expansive. You are evolving. You are capable of showing up in rooms you never imagined yourself in and owning them. Growth isn’t about abandoning who you are it’s about embracing the fullness of who you were always meant to be.

Ive learned that power ain’t just in the words we speak, but in the lives we shake up. Legacy ain’t written in ink, but in the fire we leave behind. So speak boldly, love fiercely, and never let this world make you whisper. 🫶🏾 by @thapplzchamp

Love ain’t just about romance,grand gestures,viral social media moments, baybeh… it’s about showing up, choosing each other, and making even the smallest moments feel like home. It’s in the late-night check-ins with friends, the ‘text me when you get home’ messages, the way family holds space for you, and the way you remind yourself you’re worthy every damn day. Love is community. Love is care. Love is connection.
