I am Angry, I am Exhausted, and I am absolutely done with being told to stay quiet.

With everything happening around us right now, I found myself thinking about these books! books about women’s voices, autonomy, identity, anger and resistance. 💜

These are some of my favourite feminist reads, and I think everyone should read them at least once.

What would you add to this list?

BOOK REVIEW!
⭐️⭐️⭐️

Synopsis - Eleanor Oliphant struggles with social skills and says exactly what she feels. Her life is carefully scheduled, punctuated by pizza, vodka and chats with Mummy. However, everything changes when she meets her bumbling colleague and they together save Sammy, an elderly gentleman who has fallen on the street. The three of them become unlikely friends and rescue each other from their lives of isolation.

This one was such a mixed bag! I read this for @paperbacktalks book of the month for September.

I went in to the book with zero expectations and honestly, zero idea as to what to expect. Initially, I found myself feeling pretty unmotivated to continue reading…. I found the first half to be a bit dull and dragging.

Eleanor was not an easy character to like or root for. She’s socially awkward, judgy and a bit weird for most of the book. As you read on, you realize why she is like that, but it was still a bit hard to like her. Other characters, especially Raymond, felt like a little breath of fresh air in comparison. And “Mummy” was straight-up diabolical! She reminded me of Mother Gothel, but worse 🙈.

The last few chapters of this book, however, were the complete opposite. I actually liked the ending, although I wasn’t prepared for that twist!

The narration was great! Cathleen McCarron did a great job!

Overall, this was a very okay read. It was a one-time read for sure.

This is the BEST book in this entire series! And it also has one of the most devastating endings!

I still remember reading this when it first came out and I had to wait an entire year after that literal cliffhanger!!

QOTD: What book had you screaming at the author because of its cliffhanger?
