Social media can help pay for your child’s therapies. It just won’t happen from views alone.

When I started posting about my son’s therapies, I loved it. It was fun and it helped me build a community of other moms who get it. But it wasn’t bringing in any money, and I didn’t see that strategy changing that.

So I started looking at other ways social media could make money. That’s when I found UGC: partnering with brands to create content they use on their own social media, and sometimes posting it on mine too.

There’s no shame in sharing your journey online. Keep doing it if it helps you. I’m sharing this because when I first started posting, I had no idea this was even an option.

If you want to start but don’t know what your account should be about, comment PLAN and I’ll send you my free system.

It walks you through your niche, your audience, what to post, and ways your account can make money.

One thing I’ve learned from doing more UGC is that the actual video is only part of what a brand is paying for.

They’re also paying for clear communication, reliability, good judgment, and a creator who makes the process easier on their side.

Because even great content won’t get you repeat business if you’re difficult to work with.

The biggest shift is treating UGC less like ā€œmaking contentā€ and more like running a service-based business.

A good creator should mean fewer revisions, fewer reshoots, smoother communication, and stronger content.

My schedule is unpredictable, so having a process like this is what lets me keep taking on campaigns without sacrificing the quality of the work.

I’ve slowly realized that I can’t take care of everything my son needs unless I take care of myself at some point.

Does that look like spa days or getting to be at the gym however long I want? Not in this season.

I’m just trying to make small simple changes that I can weave into our already chaotic life to bring my health back to the front burner.

Because really though, I can’t continue all the travel and therapies we’re doing with my son if I’m digging myself into the grave 🫠

I’m trying to get back into rebounding, even if it’s 10 minutes a day and it’s actually more of a workout that you’d think šŸ˜…

We’ll be getting an exercise bike soon and plan to add some free weights and a bench. A treadmill and rower are also on the list so if you’re a home gym equipment company and would like to partner, I’m game 🄰

What’s a small thing you do to prioritize your health? I need some more *simple* ideas 🤪

I’m not perfect and don’t claim to produce premium UGC, but I try my darndest to make sure I give my clients the best I can… down to removing moisture on a plate from my eggs šŸ˜…

AI has been a huge help for me, and I know a ton of moms posting on social media could benefit from it. I just don’t know typical mom problems well enough to say exactly how it would help them.

What I do know is the medical mom life, because that’s me.

AI has really been helping me with admin tasks so that I spend more time on the tasks that grow this account and land paid deals to pay for my son’s therapies.

Before, I couldn’t keep up. I was trying to create content, post and engage with other creators, while also working with brands, pitching and trying to land more deals.

This is the start of me documenting how I use AI on my account, what it can actually do for me, and how it can help other moms like us too.

Tomorrow I’m sharing some of the tools I’ve built to help me run this all on my own.

Honestly, I don’t have the funds to hire a full team to support me. And I know so many other mom creators and medical moms are in the same spot.

It’s trendy right now to say ā€œI have an AI team.ā€ But really, it’s just setting up Claude so it runs skills automatically and supports what I need it to do.

And no, I’m not using AI to turn myself into some AI-generated version of me. I’m using it to support me and help me get things done.

I’m also not copying AI slop and calling it ā€œmy voice.ā€ I don’t recommend that either.

I think more moms need to know about how AI can support them, because it’s actually super easy and accessible for anyone to do.

Over the next few weeks I’m introducing each member of my AI team, one at a time.

What questions do you have about building an AI team?

As medical moms, we get really good at planning for the worst. We know every what if, every backup plan, and every number to call when something goes wrong.

Lately I’m trying to give the best case the same space in my head.

What if this therapy is the one that clicks?
What if this is the year things get a little bit easier?
You’re allowed to hope for that too.

We’ve flown with our son a lot at this point, and traveling with a medically complex toddler definitely requires more planning, but these 4 things make our travel days so much easier:

1. Request TSA Cares.
I do this before every flight. Having extra assistance getting through security with a medically complex child and all of his equipment makes the airport feel so much less overwhelming.

2. Pack a separate carry-on with his medical supplies.
Anything medical that we absolutely cannot be without stays with us. I’m not risking an airline losing our checked luggage with something important inside. Medical/assistive items also generally don’t count toward your normal carry-on allowance when packed appropriately, but always check your airline’s policy before flying.

3. Bring WAY more G-tube food than the travel day should require.
Even if we should only need a couple feeds, I bring a couple days worth of his blends. Flights get delayed. Flights get canceled. We could get stuck somewhere overnight. His food is one thing I never want to be scrambling to figure out.

4. Bring the entertainment he actually loves.
His @tonies.us + favorite characters come with us, @msrachelforlittles gets downloaded to the tablet before we leave, and there are absolutely no screen-time limits on an airplane šŸ˜… The goal is getting through the travel day as happily as possible.

Flying with a medically complex kid felt SO intimidating in the beginning, but every trip has taught me something that makes the next one a little easier.

Save this for your next medical travel day + send it to another medical mom who has a flight coming up. 🩷

Do I feel bummed that our life doesn’t look like I planned, or like most of our friends’ lives?

Absolutely.

But I refuse to put him through all the noise and sensory overload when we can have a very similar experience at another time.

Because a good day for him doesn’t look like a good day for most kids, and that’s okay.

He had a great day at the zoo with barely anyone there. He even got to take a nap without kids screaming and waking him up.

If you needed permission to skip a tradition that doesn’t work for your kid, here it is 🩷

What’s one tradition you’ve changed for your family?

Operation find my style as a medical mom has officially launched.

While my sweatshirts and sweatpants are wildly comfy, I think I could wear cuter things out and about…mayyyybe?

So what am I doing to find my style? Well AI may or may not be helping me sort that out so stay tuned on that šŸ˜‰

But in the meantime…where are you shopping for cute clothes?!
