Allow me to re-introduce myself. My name is Dr. Arneshia Bryant-Horn, PhD, mother, wife, and friend. Carrying the title of Dr is always something I aspired to do. Through years of hard work and dedication that became true yesterday! I now join the 1% of African Americans and the 0.5% of Native Americans with PhDs.

In only a way that I could do, I was honored in the keynote speech at commencement. My family, mentors, and friend army were able to stand and be recognized for all the support they have given over the years.

To my husband @ddoth you make life easy and secure. Thanks for letting me shine and never attempting to dim my light. To my children, everything I do is for you. To my family, thanks for the support. To my friends, we make the choice to support and love each other. I love ya’ll deep.

To Dr. Villa @anthonymurovillaiii my advisor, thank you for believing in my vision and the research goals. For the late nights and reality checks. For the highs and the lows. You will be in my life FOREVA!

To my PhD big sis @iamvanessa_h thanks for the laughs, venting sessions, support, and love. You are my sister for life.

To all versions of me…….. we knew this day would come. We knew we’d be a doctor. Initially, we thought it would be another type but we trusted the journey. Education has been my stability and calm place. The journey is over and there’s no higher degree to get. In true Arneshia fashion, I’m exiting at the top!!!!!!! I’d like to thank me………. Scholar athletes are what me and @ddoth are raising. Equal parts school. Equal parts sports. Let me recap…… Monday (today)- Both boys received academic awards at school. Sunday Devin had a 7 v 7 football tournament. Saturday morning- Devin ran a track meet and came in 3rd in the relay and 400m for his grade. Saturday night- Devin and Ayden had a baseball game. Friday night- Devin and Ayden had a baseball game. Momma and daddy are tired but WE ARE BEYOND PROUD OF OUR BOYS!!!!! by @thatprettytr3
