POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Went deep into the archives to make this post šŸ˜› and it was actually so life-giving, to be reminded of my original intents for showing up in the online space.

You might have noticed this year that I’ve been dabbling in different types of content, formats, and generally exploring my online ā€˜persona’.

It’s interesting that in the very first screenshot, I talked about how social media tends to give false representations of reality.

I now have a slightly more nuanced view of social media because I see the need for healthy boundaries and filtering of what we post– this doesn’t make our online interactions any less ā€˜real’.

These past few months have been a time for me to reevaluate: how do I find purpose on here? What do I want to / don’t want to share? How would I want someone to describe my account?

I think the exploration of who we are is forever ongoing, whether online or in person. At this stage, I’m enjoying just chasing the curiosity and finding joy in trying new things. I’m always keen to hear feedback!

Has there been anything that has stood out to you in what I post? Things you want to see more of? (I’ve been tempted to ask Claude these same things but value you guys’ thoughts more haha)

If you made it this far down the caption, it must mean you’re pretty committed haha so thank you for following along the journey! 🌱🌻 by @thats.soe.joyce

ā€œThe life we long for is hidden in the life we have.ā€œ

šŸ“šfrom ā€˜This is the Main Event’, by @joshualukesmith

Just started reading this book and it’s been challenging me in contentment and gratitude.

I think it’s hard to consider our current lives as the very gift that God is extending to us, rather than waiting on something in the future as if what we have been given is not already enough.

This line in particular has made me look at my every day scenes differently:

- my morning coffee, made imperfectly but lovingly at home
- the mess on our living room floor
- the high-pitched demands from my three year old
- washing the dishes, worn out at the end of the day

I’m starting to take on this lens of: what if these scenes are JUST as precious as those moments by the beach, where the sun sets beautifully across the horizon?

What if we truly believed that God’s beauty and presence were equally in our mundane? by @thats.soe.joyce

Maybe this doesn’t blow anyone else’s mind but mine– it really is only recently that I’ve allowed myself to see prayer as even just *one* repeated phrase… not needing to give God entire sentences and paragraphs, but focusing on just that one thought.

I’ve been told that Christians from monastic/contemplative circles have been doing this type of prayer for yeeears, so it makes sense that it ā€˜works’ (in terms of creating closeness with God and to turn our gaze to Him) by @thats.soe.joyce

Sometimes, life presents us with
doors to walk through
people to connect with
ideas to birth.

But other times,
(I would argue,
more often than not),
we are called to stillness
and slowness.

Don’t underestimate the steady growth of one who moves slowly. by @thats.soe.joyce

And at the end of it all, as I commented on how pretty the sunset looked, Levi looked up at me and asked, ā€œare you happy now, mama?ā€ 🄺

This boy both infuriates me and makes my heart melt 🧔

Also, beautiful photography proactively captured by my creative husband! @danielsoemusic thank you for joining me in my creativity without me even asking hehe by @thats.soe.joyce

I don’t use these apps every day but I’ve used them consistently for years. I find they add a variety to reading the Bible on its own, making me think deeper or even ā€œslowerā€ on scripture that I might have heard many times.

And the Bible app itself has become a staple for me on top of these! Although I do miss spending more time in my physical Bible… there’s a season for everything and this one looks more digital for me šŸ›œ (a very apt emoji linking to the last slide!) by @thats.soe.joyce

Have you ever wondered how bizarre and unrealistic Paul’s encouragement for us to ā€œpray without ceasingā€ is? (1 Thessalonians 5:17)

What if it’s only unrealistic because we’ve over-complicated what prayer is? by @thats.soe.joyce

Hint: there is no formula to prayer!!

For the first two years of motherhood, I told God ā€œI miss our quiet mornings together.ā€

I missed uninterrupted times with Him and having a dedicated ā€œquiet timeā€.

While these are good things to enjoy, motherhood has pushed me to seek Jesus in all things– in the noise and in the ordinary, even in what doesn’t look ā€œspiritualā€.

The more I do all of life with Him in mind, the more I hear His voice in the noise.

ā€œFor in Him we live and move and have our being.ā€ Acts 16:28 by @thats.soe.joyce

I’m always fascinated by the creativity that comes out from the sandpit. The kids seem to have this intuition as to what to build, where to place things.

As someone who leans towards right/wrong mentality, it’s freeing to see the possibilities of play and curiosity šŸŖ by @thats.soe.joyce
