Reading is a privilege and the costs of books is on the rise to reflect the economic pressures of publishing books. And I HATE hate hate to think that reading is this luxury activity and books are luxuries because it should be accessible to EVERYONE. I don't rush for new releases because they simply aren't affordable. If you go to B&N, two books can easily cost you $50.

But that is why im a big proponent of second hand shopping-- for clothes and books! It's friendly on my pockets and the environment. And Amazon has books for cheaper but again we dont support that!!!!!!!!!! So if youre like me and you have a big big big appetite for buying books but also try your hardest to be a conscious consumer, then shop second hand for sure.

I think in store is the best if its around because its less carbon emissions but even buying on Thriftbooks, Betterworldbooks, Half Price Books, or BookOutlet is also a great way to go. I believe Abe Books is owned by Amazon so I have not shopped there.

Plus if you browse, it's a meditative experience. Or at least a practice in meditation. You have to just be in the moment and explore what is offered. And I always always find these niche books or books ive never heard of that I would have never otherwise encountered and bought.

Try it out and lmk what you grab!

I do not forsee myself stopping, ever, really. A life lived well entails a life where you care about your neighbor's quality of life too.
