New team! The Aspire era begins for Eli. They went 4-0 in the first region tourney with just 6 guys playing all the way around (that means libs are also middles). Held the #1 rank in AZ. by @thatvansteacher

Not sure how I feel about this one. Roasted, but extra credit is deserved.

Silver Medal at NATIONALS! The boys battled hard all week and took the most difficult path to the finals of the Elite division at AAU Nationals. On the brink of elimination they played a 1 set playoff to 15 against the #1 seed just to make the gold bracket. Once in gold they steamrolled to the finals beating the #2 seed in a chippy contest (Eli got a yellow card putting someone in their place). At the end of the day we ran out of gas in the finals and lost in 3. Eli was named All-American along the way. John got some time out there and was getting better in every game. He was also the best bench player I have ever seen creating several service errors. We love being the parents of two amazing boys. Also volleyball is so cool to watch. @trustbirth @curtsimon by @thatvansteacher

Father’s Day was amazing this year. After 9 matches in 3 days the boys ended up nabbing 3rd 🥉 place at the SoCal Cup Showcase. Eli also hit an amazing .400 through the tournament to earn a spot on the All-Tournament team. Pretty fun to watch my two bodyguards grow up and do amazing things. I love being their father. by @thatvansteacher

Finally! The boys were able to play on the same varsity court together. Both had amazing seasons with Eli making 5A All Conference 1st 🥇 team and All Region 1st team. He led the team with 358 kills this season (11th in the whole state) and had 47 Aces. John led the team with 48 blocks and was a menace at the net. Both are super competitive and shit down their side of the court when they were together. We would have liked a few more wins and to have advanced farther in the playoffs, but we were better than most expected this year. Next year should be a lot of fun as Eli chases the career kill record and John chases the career blocks record at SMHS. Go Mustangs! @trustbirth by @thatvansteacher

These two off to their first day at their first real job. The right of passage continues as they are working daycare at my school. They are the last 2 to do it. @trustbirth me by @thatvansteacher

A family of teachers hosting a fashion show with no budget is way cooler than the MET Gala. Though, in truth, I can’t take much credit for this particular idea outside of the fashion itself. The concept came from my dad and teaching mentor, @thatvansteacher who has a knack for making teaching fun. This is the eighth year he’s hosted a fourth grade fashion show and the first year he’s taken the idea grade wide. I think he’s got some Caesar Flickerman flare if I do say so myself. Dressed as my other, and better half in this video, is my sister who goes by @thoughtswithtots over on TikTok, so if you aren’t following her, please do! Let me know in the comments if you wish you’d had this sort of assembly in school⬇️
