Hello I had the best food I’ve ever had in my life and no pictures to show for it. I went so hard my legs still ache. I cried 5 times thinking about what will come next. I don’t know what will come next. I travel like I think and it is nonsensical with no plan, a moseying around. Everything is breathtaking but what did I miss by not choosing something? What happens to the figs if you try to freeze them for later? Are they still okay to eat?

I am sad that wherever I go, I feel the need to build home brick-by-brick. That belonging feels like something that can only exist in the shadows. That it is not just there— to grab without proving myself worth of it.

I fear I have done all of this in search of a feeling I have been chasing since I was a kid, and in my youthful desperation, I neglected to face the fact that I was the one convincing myself of my own non-belonging.

Perhaps I’m leaving now to do it all again, somewhere else, to pour cement into a hole as it caves in and call it foundation, to set fires in houses made of wood and wonder why it all keeps burning down.

Mouth open up to the clouds waiting for the rain to quench this thirst. Everywhere I look I am outstandingly moved, I am believably shaken, I am overtaken by the waves. I’m back home now and I’m making snow angels in the sand, laughing at the birds, clocking in early, touch-tongue-tasting too long because the moments pass too quick. by @thatwasareej

Yes clinging will allow you to stay for longer. Yes. It will keep you in place and closer to what you have learned to love. Yes your fingers, your nails that have dug into the wood deeper than you thought was possible, will bleed and bend to the shape of this home you have made in your comfort. Yes, you will stay. It will feel grounding. It will feel like you have allowed your roots to finally dig too, and the bark— it will grow around you, nails and all, until your children, and their children learn how to cling too. by @thatwasareej
