Form Foundation is excited to bring “DJINN” to Dublin by internationally renowned artist Bharti Kher at our new space in Grand Canal Dock at @trinitycollegedublin @bharti_kher_studio_

FREE and open to the public

Djinn standing at 5.4 meters takes its title from one of the most enduring figures of Eastern mythology. For centuries, stories of djinns have circulated across North Africa, the Arabian Peninsula and South Asia. They were believed to be inhabiting a parallel world
alongside our own. Neither human nor divine, they were thought to have taken many forms, appearing as animals, humans or even inanimate objects. They are associated with mystery and the unseen forces that shape everyday life and the universe, resisting
fixed meaning.

Bharti Kher work has been shown in museums and institutions all over the world including
Victoria & Albert Museum, ‘Bharti Kher at the V&A’, London, UK (2026),
Thorvaldsens Museum, ‘Bharti Kher’, Copenhagen, Denmark (2025); Tate St Ives, ‘Bharti
Kher’, St Ives, UK (2025); Yorkshire Sculpture Park ( UK )
(2024); Hayward Gallery (2024), London, UK; Public Art Fund, Central Park, New York NY (2022) and Irish Museum of Modern Art, Dublin, (2020)
As well as Centre Pompidou (France), Guggenheim Abu Dhabi (UAE) and Tate (UK) by @the.formfoundation

Who is Harriet Tubman and Marcus Garvey ?

Harriet Tubman:

c. March 1822 – March 10, 1913

Harriet Tubman was an American abolitionist and social activist. Often referred to as the “Conductor” of the Underground Railroad. After escaping slavery herself, Tubman made approximately 13 missions to rescue around 70 enslaved people through the network of antislavery activists and safe houses known as the Underground Railroad. Her courage and leadership earned her the nickname “Moses.” Tubman served the Union Army during the American Civil War as a nurse, cook and spy, organising effective network of Black spies behind enemy lines. She was also the first woman to plan and lead an armed military assault in U.S military history. The raid, known as the Combahee River Raid, successfully disrupted Confederate supply lines and liberated more than 700 enslaved people. After the war, she continued advocating for Black freedom, women’s suffrage and equal rights as well as establishing a home which provided assisted living for any elderly or disabled African Americans

Marcus Garvey:

August 1887 – June 1940

Marcus Garvey was a Jamaican-born Black activist, political leader and one of the most influential figures of the Pan-African movement. He was the Founder of the Universal Negro Improvement Association (UNIA) which he built to be one of the largest Black-led international movements of the early twentieth century with millions of members. In 1919 he established the Black Star Line, an oceanic shipping company that was owned and operated entirely by black investors as a means to promote Black enterprise and economic independence. Garvey is most celebrated for his “Back-to-Africa” movement, his tireless campaign for economic self-reliance, and his message of unyielding Black pride. He wanted to build a strong unified African empire that would act as a global superpower. His ideas of self-determination, collective power and pride in African heritage would influence generations of civil rights and liberation leaders around the world. by @the.formfoundation
