Had the best 4 days with @amberhowitt at @wildwoodecoretreat which, last time I was here, was just a dream and an empty property. Love seeing it all become reality ✨✨✨ by @the.kat.river

Anyone know more about wolves? 😅 I love this age, where we get to deepen conversation, social dynamics and understanding the world outside of the baby/toddler years ✨✨✨ by @the.kat.river

I moved to this area in early 2017 before the winter, after 9 months of living in the city and feeling pretty anxious. I couldn’t do the traffic and being so stimulated all the time.

I found myself in the country, then living in a tiny 1 bedroom studio with rustic wooden windows that were uneven but you could see the stars and the peppermint trees through them. The blue wrens would come and knock on the windows each day and I didn’t know I would name one of my children Ren one day. I looked after a friends baby in exchange to live there which was my dream at the time. I was so maternal and needed children around me to care for. I picked up odd jobs at the farmers market and began a private podcast, ran some women’s events and a program for girls aged 15-21. That winter was cold but I drank a lot of cacao back then, read a lot and mastered a vegetable curry. Summer rolled around and every day was spent outside, in the sunshine, with music, acai bowls daily, the coast and good people. It was the beginning of 5.5 years of south west living. Filled with bonfires and forrest walks, live music and adventures.

It’s been so beautiful to be back in the south west after 4.5 years of living on the east coast. Rainforest Tiny house off grid living will always remain in my heart, but there’s something very nostalgic being here, particularly for this season.

It’s honestly such a special, rugged, slow little pocket in the world and one of my favourite places in Australia now that I’ve traveled most of the country over the years. Very grateful to have landed here and been able to nest for the last 5 months and to be around family & friends while readjusting to a different sort of life. ✨✨✨

Very excited to still get back on a ✈️ and co-parent abroad (are we crazy???) but we will see what summer here has in store first ✨✨✨ by @the.kat.river

Journal entry 431
I’ve spent days with different women & their creative processes recently. Observing how a thread of inspiration moves through each of them completely different, though there are some parts the same. I’m noticing the moment of breakthrough into some form of altered state. Where the idea becomes form. Something tangible to manipulate. She begins sculpting it. Before she realises it’s actually shaping her first. Or really, it’s more of a co-creation. Simultaneously. A dance of intention, expression, refinement. A soft eb and flow. Sometimes it’s not soft. It kind of burns & she goes a little manic. I can see it in her eye and the way she’s no longer in the room with me. Somewhere else, but her mouth is moving & she’s speaking her visions into existence right in front of me. I’m in awe. Too many people in this world remain cynical about the unseen. They can’t see the way the threads of inspiration & dreaming somehow reach through time & space & begin working on us as the creators, the artists, the vessel of sorts.
Rearranging our insides so that we become a version of ourselves that can actually show up for the life, the dream, the idea we want to create. More than that, redesigning parts of our internal structure so that we move into more innocence with our creative process.

I think about them, while I wait for this brisket to cook.
My laptop sitting open with 3 half edited videos & old poetry I’m collating. It kind of wants to become a book. But it’s still a whisper right now. A tiny nudge that moves me along every few days. Not enough to really dive in, but enough to not forget.
A lot of my work feels like it’s patiently waiting. Giving me the space to figure out a new rhythm in life before I pick it all up again. I feel too changed. I feel so far from the woman who wrote poetry at 1am with a baby attached to her & no sleep. I forget poetry typically lives as a timestamp and a portal back into a place. Whether that be back into the past or forward into a dream.
I forget that my own vision and art is rearranging me right now too. Shaping me carefully for what is to come. by @the.kat.river

A full day of poetry performances with @wapoets and then onto @kj.stone_ studio. She made my new mug (if my kids didn’t keep breaking my beloved ceramic mugs I’d have a really epic collection at this point). And her new poetry book. I love creatives & people who can see a micro moment and turn it into art 😍😍✨ by @the.kat.river
