This month, instead of naming a Client of the Month, I felt really called to do something a little different and highlight one of our incredible instructors — Alexis! 🤍 @the.lexlevel

I met Alexis about a year ago when she approached me about working at JPP. At the time, I encouraged her to get her Pilates certification and told her that if she truly wanted to teach here, the first step was becoming part of our community.

And wow, did she take that to heart.

I have rarely seen someone so motivated or so willing to spring into action. Alexis earned her Pilates certification, became a regular in our classes, and started working alongside me as a studio apprentice — learning, observing, asking questions and putting in the work — before earning her place on our regular teaching schedule.

Since then, she has continued to impress me.

Alexis walks into our studio with a positive attitude every single day. She is motivated, kind-hearted, eager to learn and genuinely invested in the people around her. She has done an incredible job connecting with our clients, welcoming new faces and helping make people feel like they belong at JPP.

What I admire most about Alexis is the way she approaches growth. Every challenge, every piece of feedback and every opportunity to improve has been met with an open mind and an open heart. She wants to be great at what she does and she’s willing to put in the work to get there.

Building JPP has never just been about filling a schedule with instructors. It’s about finding people who understand what this community means and who want to help make it even stronger. Alexis is one of those people.

Watching her go from someone who walked through our doors saying, “I want to teach here,” to becoming such an important part of our team has been incredibly special.

Some people fill your cup, others overflow it and thats exactly what the Boston Core Power Community did for me 🫶🏼

Its funny to think that leaving something so meaningful can actually feel so rewarding, in a way that shows that the people who have supported you are the ones who helped push you to achieve your dreams and accomplish your goals so greatly, that there comes a time to move on. Hundreds of students, thousands of mirror selfies and more smiles than I can make up a number for (or maybe its death stares??) I thank each and every one of you who rolled out your mat with me at CorePower for helping me become the teacher and friend I am today.

But don’t worry, if you find yourself missing my combo moves and evil giggles, I’ve got a few places you can find me 😋

Nearly one year ago I gained the courage to approach Jenn, the owner of @jppilates1 at an outdoor community event in Hood Park, asking if she was open to hiring instructors as her new studio was in the process of being built. She asked two things of me:

1. get certified in Pilates (duh)
2. show up

And that is exactly what I did. I joined a semi private group of strong women who helped push me out of my comfort zone on the mat. Emailed, texted and simply walked to the studio to see Jenn face to face and keep me on her mind.

In January, Jenn gave me an opportunity to be my mentor, working with me 1 on 1 for weeks and providing the space to start small. Work on deepening my intentional cues, my eye for advancement in students bodies and the ability to take over the room in ways I didn’t even know I could. Classes started small. Observation hours came with information overload. My workout routine centered around my core and I began feeling stronger in my body and my ability to lead others on the mat.

Now here we are a year later with fuller rooms, weekly class times on JPP schedule and not just one but TWO formats. Forever grateful Jenn took the chance on me, and even more grateful to continue taking chances on myself.
