Heading into Season 3 premiere week ✨

📸: The Group Chat 💫 by @the.process.podcast

Guess what, y’all? Season 3 of The Process is dropping on September 20th!

This season, we’re diving into THE GROUP CHAT, featuring some of Chicago’s finest creatives—Kara Brody, Rahila Coats, SJ Swilley, and Camila Rivero Pooley. They’re sitting down with our host, Alyssa Gregory, to talk all things ensemble work. We’re getting into the real questions: What does an ideal creative process even look like? Is it possible? How does vulnerability shift when you’re creating with a group instead of on your own? And of course, we’re talking about self-care—because we all know how crucial that is in any creative journey.

Now, here’s where it gets personal. This season, Alyssa decided to do something big and very vulnerable—make a video podcast. So you can WATCH and LISTEN to this season.

“It’s been on my mind for a while, and let me tell you, it’s a whole new world of complexity. But I gathered a brilliant creative team, and we went on this wild ride together. The result? Absolutely stunning. Can’t wait for you to see what we’ve been working on” -AG

ABORT | WIP FEB 2023 | Part of @artspubliclife @the.process.podcast with @uhhleeesa & performer @_dejaviews_

Reflecting on this particular work in progress one year later as I begin diving into new iterations and ideas of possibilities - I am excited to start working on this again and always looking for collaborators! ✨

ABORT is a multifaceted choreographic work that draws inspiration from realms of club culture and the influential contributions of Black Women in rock music. At its core, the project explores the nuances of visibility and self-expression, delving into themes like sensuality, desire, resilience, and individual agency.
The performance creates a landscape, challenging societal labels and their impact on our bodies. It endeavors to provide solutions for finding liberation within one's own physicality, embracing both the freedom to express and the power of silence and solitude. It's a journey that investigates the intersection of birth, women, and choice while fostering a sense of community and personal empowerment.

Thankful for @uhhleeesa giving the space to explore and be in dialogue in the studio and at the bar 🫶🏽 and so appreactive for @_dejaviews_ jumping into this work and being so open and receptive to explore and try some crazy ideas! by @the.process.podcast

PRJ, Sixty Inches From Center, and The Process have been reeling, strategizing, and reflecting on our town hall at The Blanc back on November 4.

THE WRITERS’ ROOM provided a space for artists, performers, writers, administrators, and editors to gather and discuss the state of performance and dance writing in Chicago. We value the multiple experiences and perspectives that were shared with us, and we will be taking steps to honor those words in the new year. We can’t wait to see how our community visioning comes to fruition.

We want to express sincere gratitude for those who showed up and kept us honest & generative in our conversation. Thank you to our invited speakers: Benji Hart, Gervais Marsh, Maggie Bridger, & Tara Aisha Willis for opening the dialogue which encouraged community members to sound off a much needed, robust discussion.

We wish everyone safe and restful holidays and look forward to seeing y’all in the New Year! ✨
