Western medicine didn’t discover psilocybin, FYI by @the.psychedelic.np
I get this question more than any other: “Do I have to come off my SSRI before psilocybin?” 🍄‍🟫 For years the answer was an automatic yes. But when you look at the actual research, it’s not so clear. One study says stopping might hurt your results, one says it doesn’t matter, and one says staying on is fine. Nobody has actually run the head to head trial yet. So I broke down all four studies for you. Swipe through ➡️ Then tell me in the comments: if it were your call, would you stay on or come off? 👇🏼 Save this for later, and send it to someone who’s been asking about psychedelic assisted therapy. Education only, not medical advice. Please don’t stop taking any medication before talking to your provider. #psychedelictherapy #psilocybin #psilocybintherapy #SSRI #antidepressants by @the.psychedelic.np
Can you walk into your doctor’s office and ask for shrooms? 🍄 Here’s where FDA-approved psilocybin actually stands. Compass Pathways finished their phase 3 trials, and they’re submitting their FDA application by the end of this year. We could see an approval or denial in early 2027. If it’s approved, it’ll likely work a lot like Spravato does right now. It’ll be for treatment-resistant depression only, which means you’ll have had to try at least two antidepressants first. Off-label/cash-pay options will exist, but without insurance it’s probably going to be expensive and out of reach for a lot of people 🙃 What do you think about bringing psychedelics into healthcare? Tell me in the comments 👇🏼 Education only, not medical advice. I’m a psych NP student about to graduate and always learning. #psychedelicmedicine #psilocybin #mentalhealth #psychnp by @the.psychedelic.np
