Hi Friends!

Our award-winning short documentary The Root of it All is screening this Sunday August 23 at the Plaza Theatre Kensington as part of the fantastic Alberta @indiefilmthrowdown!

We’ve had such a beautiful journey across the country and into NYC with this film, but screening at home in a theatre with our AB film fam and peers is always such an honour.

This is a hopeful story about the folks in Alberta who are changing our relationship with food. We look forward to seeing you there and continuing this important conversation about the inextricable connection between food, nature, and ourselves.

Last week we had the great honour of sharing our film @ruralrouteagacademy near Strathmore, Alberta. It was such a joy to meet the inspiring students and teachers who are building such a wonderful school environment. This is what school can look like! Closer to the earth and working together to build community around food.

Thank you to Ms. @phillips.tiff for inviting us out and to all the students and teachers at Rural Route for welcoming us and showing us around. We had a wonderful day.

As some of you may know, in addition to The Root of it All, we also created an educational featurette called The Food Beneath Our Feet.

This 30-min doc explores foraging in the forests of Calgary with two of our city’s legends: @lightcellar team’s @themalchemist and @denismanzer!

Through their witty banter and chemistry the audience will learn about several plants growing wild right here in #YYC that can be used for food and natural healing remedies.

Join us for a community screening and a tasting session! Experience some wild foods harvested by featured foragers and prepared by @chefalexhamilton.
