The Why… This series evolved slowly after decades of caring for someone very close with severe mental illness

An early customer expressed it perfectly… ‘Sometimes life can feel broken but still be beautiful’. She did not know how her understanding would stay with me 🙏🏼

Wandering in the park, after visits to the psych ward, I started noticing shards of broken glass and china. I took them home with me, not wanting to leave this long-buried rubbish in my calm sanctuary

As a life-long artist, I knew one day I would understand why they had appeared, seemingly out of nowhere

And here we are, restored and recovered
And for me personally… creative once more

If only my long-suffering mum, whose name was Joy, had lived long enough to see these artworks, I know she would be happy that light eventually came after such heavy darkness

This series, ‘Finding Joy’, is my tribute to her, to all those who suffer from an invisible illness, and the very many people who care for them

New series in the making. Both post- and pre-landfill. Some of these are made from damaged china and ceramic pieces that are destined for, or salvaged from, landfill. Others are custom orders that I’ll create for you, from that stash of china you can’t throw away because it belonged to someone special. (Shout out to my fave grandma Queenie 😘)
Here’s how to save the memory, without keeping the entire dusty box of crockery you just know you’ll never use. Nor will your kids want… and that I can promise you 😉

A new series, and a newer series, and my newest purchase (that bowl 😍)
I broke my own rule yesterday when I spied this green gorgeousness across the lawn @hazelhurstartscentre wonderful market day. And promptly bought it before the day had officially begun. I wasn’t leaving this one to fate (fellow stall-holders wykyk)
Which also meant meeting the lovely maker @jeanceramics which was also a bonus because she’s just as delightful as her work is by @the.tiny.inkling.studio

These ‘vases’ found me somehow… ex-landfill that appeared in my world at precisely the right time
Each suggested its own place; I just need to be listening carefully. So far, so good 😊
