This E36 M3 has been turbocharged since the mid 2000s, so it was definitely time to bring a few things up to date.

We’re modernizing the setup with a Link standalone ECU and fuel management system while keeping the character of the original build intact.

Old school turbo E36 with some modern brains. We’ll show you more as we get into it.

Sometimes the oil analysis tells you exactly what you need to know.

After elevated metal content showed up in this customer’s results, we went in for a rod bearing replacement and found the upper bearings worn down to copper, with debris present in some of the lowers.

ACL Racing rod bearings and ARP 2000 rod bolts went in, and we took the extra step of inspecting the oil pump to make sure everything was still healthy.

The shop E30 M3, more on this to come, but here are some photos of it from the @california_e30m3_gruppe & @garagewelt meet this past weekend.

We’ve owned this E30 M3 since 2007. Now freshly resprayed in its original Salmon Silver mid restoration.

22 M3s, good people, and a reminder of why we still care so much about these cars.

Pieces of puzzle 001 ->

Windshield secured and rear glass installed thanks to @the.werx , with the rear quarters waiting on the headliner. NOS Hella smileys from @bavariansteeringwheels and new Sport Evo grilles are on, with more trims, finishes and another @fcpeuro order inevitable.

More importantly, the @bimmerheads S14B25 is here.

Next up is getting a bin of hard goods refinished by @renewedfinishes, the engine in, and beginning the standalone, wiring and induction side of the build while the upholstery gets trimmed.

WTB: Still hunting for mint/NOS E30 coupe door seals, an airbox for the 52mm ITBs, and the right head unit.

This E30 M3 came in for routine clutch maintenance and left with a few well deserved upgrades.

With the original transmission struggling to find first and reverse, we swapped in a dogleg transmission, built a new differential with an OS Giken center unit, installed a Sachs clutch kit, and replaced the rear main seal while we were in there.

Properly sorted and ready to be driven.
