👉One thing I’ve learned about CPTSD is that it’s not just one moment that you struggle. It’s a complete loss of identity. I’m going back to the basics of what brought me the most sense of self. Being creative is who I am. And that’s where im starting.

👉This was a fun night bringing back that same feeling of just going for it and seeing where it landed printing some merch for my day job @soco_customs.

📍My creative journey started very randomly back in 2013, I desperately needed a job after some bad decisions I made and abandoning my career at IBM. It took a close friend taking a chance on me handing me a vinyl plotter, budget, and all the time I needed to figure out how to use it.

13 years later I realized I lost what matters most. The Passion for what I do. Reconnecting with that is very important to me and finding my place in this world again. Something that only God has been able to restore and trust me. This has not been easy to conclude. People will let you down. But God stays steady no matter what storm we face. Im excited to share that part of who I am soon enough.

I cherish those moments of being able to push myself past my limits of what I thought would be possible and the collaboration of having a vision and taking not taking no as an option. Lately The smallest tasks have taken so much energy but I won’t back down on what I believe is meant for me and finding balance between what I love doing versus the family I love being with.

👉Last week I experienced one of the worst mental breakdowns of my adult life. In that moment Suicide felt like the only option & im so greatful to have had the people around me to bring in the right help. I don’t think it was just one thing that caused it but can contribute a large part of it to the medication I was on not working well. If anything, it just exposed how much more work I needed to do on myself.

With the increasing amount of stress, being a new father & bills piling up I lost sight of what matters most to me. My Family, My faith & my career have been the foundation to everything for me and Ive let shame prevent me from seeing that or even feel worthy of having it. I’ve felt that if I can’t be perfect all the time then I’ll be useless & a burden. I’m so Grateful to be on this earth with My amazing partner @teasvn building the family we both dreamed of. Thank you for making the call & the friends who checking in and kept what matters most in sight.

This has been building for much longer than most people have even known me for. 5 years ago I suffered some very traumatic interpersonal relationships that have had me feeling like a shell of the man and feeling very inadequate. I shut down everything. My business, my friends & convinced myself that I can erase everything wrong with me. What used to come naturally has turned into a mental battle, basic tasks now take a surmountable amount of energy that I’ve hid in hopes it would just go away. Learning what CPTSD does to your brain is still something I battle with & I won’t let my ego protect it any longer. I’m facing this reality head on not just for myself but so that I can show up well for the ones I love & the passions I share with fellow creators. I’m picking up where I left off 5 years ago & sharing my story in hopes that it can save another person from the cycle I allowed for so long.

When you photograph an event, your job isn’t just to photograph what’s in front of you.

It’s to capture the culture behind it.

This was a car show, but it was never just about the cars.

It was about the people who built them, restored them, dreamed about them, and brought them out to share something they love.

The cars tell you what they have.

The people tell you why it matters.

That’s what I’m looking for when I photograph an event.

Not just the pretty things.

The pride.
The community.
The stories.
The people.

Because your photographs shouldn’t just show someone what the event looked like.

They should make them feel what it felt like to belong there. by @the.wolfcity
