Part I The Groundbreakers

Got to spend 10 wonderful days in the Hungarian countryside with a youth exchange called the Groundbreakers.
Came back with lots of new insights about compost, soil, permaculture, pigments, and clay, and brought some homemade watercolor paints and Clay flutes with me. What a joy to meet with people from three different countries—I hope we’ll stay in touch

Diatomeen. Inspired by these unique microalgae, their diversity and the desire to make the invisible visible.

The deliberate choice of transparency is intended to reveal the technique itself. The aim was to create a 360-degree micro mosaic. This makes the inner workings of the mosaic visible and creates a connection between artistic technique and scientific inspiration.

Diatomeen

This glass project is dedicated to the microcosm of diatoms. Inspired by their unique
structure and diversity, various glass forms were blown and filled with fine glass
threads. Micro mosaics arranged in Petri dishes reflect the colors and shapes of
round diatoms in miniature. Just as diatoms depend on their environment, these
pieces of jewelry also need the textile as a surface to unfold their full effect. For this
purpose, the brooches are attached to clothing as gathering elements.
