WITH THE FIRE ON HIGH is an ownvoice story written by @acevedowrites .

STORYLINE :
With the fire on high is the story of a teen mom Emoni who is in high school senior year. As she is approaching her graduation she has a lot of choices to make. She has to get good grades to get in a reputed college while taking care of her daughter and working to keep up with the expenses.
In midst of all this chaos, the only place where she finds peace is her kitchen. Her love for cooking is magical. So when her school introduces a Culinary Arts class she couldn't let go the opportunity.

REVIEW :
I personally found the concept of the book very intriguing and unique .
The story is pretty much character driven, through out the book we see Emoni juggling with all the responsibilities and trying to make the ends meet. Her character was beautifully flawed and I fell in love with her . We see her growing up, realizing her passion while watching her own daughter grow.

The side characters in the book are also amazing. The sisterhood between Emoni and her best friend and the family aspect of the book is heartwarming.

The story is very layered and touches a lot of sensitive topics including parenting, remembering once cultural values and roots and treatment towards black people. The vivid recipes shared in the book makes it more vibrant.

Overall I had a great time reading this and I highly recommend to read this if you are looking for a good cultural read.

LET IT SNOW is a compilation of three short holiday romances co-authored by @johngreenwritesbooks , @maureenjohnsonbooks and @myraclegirl .

STORYLINE :

Everyone's christmas plans have been changed due to a snow storm although no one knew it brought romance along with it.

The first story is Jubilee Express by Maureen Johnson , it's about Jubilee whose Christmas Eve was supposed to be perfect with her boyfriend but she has to hop on a train as her parents get arrested.

The second story is A Cheertastic Christmas Miracle by John Green, it's all about Tobin and his friends who are on this adventure to reach the waffle house full of cheerleaders.

The third story is Patron saint of pigs by Lauren Myracle, it's about Addie who is dealing with a break up and has to get a guinea pig for her best friend.

REVIEW :

The first story is my personal favourite, I loved the chemistry between Jubilee and Stuart and how welcoming Stuart's family was.

The second story was more of a roller coaster ride and kept me on the edge . What I enjoyed the most was the friendship between Tobin, JP and Duke .

I thought the third story was just like other break up stories but to my surprise it was all together different. It was so hilarious and heart warming both at the same time to see Addie dealing with everything.

The writing style was very easy to read in a flow and the stories were beautifully intertwined.

Overall this book had everything one would want to read on a Christmas Eve.

10 Blind dates by @ashleyelston is a holiday romance.

STORYLINE :

On her senior year Christmas break all Sophie wants is some quality time with her boyfriend Griffin. But Griffin wants to have a little out time of their relationship.

Heartbroken, Sophie flees to her grandmother's house to spend the holidays with her huge family. Her Nonna (grandmother) could not see her in such plight and comes up with a hilarious plan to send Sophie on 10 blind dates , each chosen by different family members.

Sophie agrees to go on these dates hoping to fix some of her broken pieces.

REVIEW :

I went in to the book expecting to enjoy the romance but to my surprise what I loved the most about the story was the family aspect. I loved how chaotic her extended family was. There were aunts and uncles and cousins from whom she drifted apart while growing up.

The reunion Sophie had with her family was so nostalgic and reminded me of the days when we used to spent summer breaks with our extended family.

Some of the dates were hilarious whereas some dates were so adorable that it would make your heart melt .

The romance in the book was fun and light hearted. Even though it's set over the course of Christmas I think one can read it any time through out the year as it's very heart warming.

Overall I had a great time reading this one and if you are looking to read some ridiculously fun family story this might the book for you .

Plot :

Aditya, the son of one of the biggest business tycoon who always has a charismatic smile on his face helps people selflessly and lives each moment. Though no one knows about the pain he is hiding beneath it .

Aditya like an guardian angel took Veronica out of her miseries and helped her achieve her dreams and success that she deserves. Their friendship was slowing blossoming into a never ending romance but destiny has different plans for them.

Review:

The plot of the book is interesting and the subplots make the entire story more vivid.

The characters are developed in a very balanced way . While Veronica's character is shown as disturbed and shattered, Aditya is potrayed with a strong will and hope.

They are seen dealing with some emotionally challenging circumstances. Their journey is not only about love but also about undying hope and selfless dedication.

The writing style is pretty smooth to keep you going easily.

This book reminded me of Savi Sharma's "Everyone has a story ". So if you enjoy a motivating love story this might be the book for you.

HUNTED BY THE SKY is the first book of the fantasy series by @bhathenatanaz .

STORYLINE
Set in the world of Svapnalok(Dreamland) , it's the story about kingdom Ambar under the reign of king Lohar.

In Ambar, for years girls have been killed because of a prophecy that " A girl with a star shaped birthmark will be responsible for king's demise ". Gul's parents lost their lives while protecting her. All Gul now wants is revenge and an end to this brutal killing of girls.

Gul's fate intertwines with Cavas who would do anything to cure his I'll father .

REVIEW
I found the plot of the book is very interesting and the plot twists keeps you hooked.

The world development is smooth and well paced, the author gives right amount of detail one can consume at a time. There are references from Indian mythology and you can see glimpses of mediaeval India in the world.

The character development is also nicely done. There are magical creatures that reminds you of the ancient gods and goddesses.

The book is pretty much action packed and also does a great job to depicts issues like discrimination, ill treatment to poor and a lot more .

The book ends in a cliff hanger and there are a lot of unanswered questions which will be answered in its concluding book "Rising of a storm "

If you want to read something that would remind you of the fierce queens of ancient India this is the book for you.

Simon v/s the homo sapiens agenda
by Becky Albertalli.

One word description of the book "ADORABLE"
This story is about Simon, who is like any other highschooler except he is gay and no one knows that .

Simon meets this guy named Blue through their creeksecrets website and they become pen pals. They write each other emails not knowing their real identities except the fact that they go to the same high school.

However one day someone sees those emails and blackmails Simon to be his wingman. (Ps. It's not a spoiler)

While dealing with the blackmailer Simon is also on the quest of finding out who Blue is .

The chemistry between Simon and Blue is undeniably cute . This book is one of those books that manage to give us a deep message while being a light and fluffy read.

This discusses certain aspects about LGBTQ+ community such as they have to come out to the world and this shows the fact that being queer is yet not normalized.

I really loved and enjoyed this book . The writing style is smooth and the plot keeps you hooked. It's one of the best romance contemporary I have read.

Also yesterday was COMING OUT DAY so I found this book perfect for the occasion. There is this one part in the book where the character says "it's my choice when and how to come out and to whom ".
