Part of a powerful conversation between our Founder @donelle_grant and @runwithpurpose_org cofounder @joelthika where they discuss the black male experience, specifically parenthood and the impact they are making on the mental health outcomes for Black men and boys in the UK.

This month is Men’s Mental Health Month. Let’s create safe spaces for men to open up.

On Wednesday, our founder was invited to speak at the Leeds International Festival of Ideas at Leeds Playhouse, joining an incredible panel to discuss How Do We Talk About Suicide?

As Founder and CEO of The Brave Project C.I.C., a suicide prevention service supporting Black boys and young men and their families, Donelle is passionate about breaking down stigma, creating safe spaces and ensuring that those who are too often unheard feel seen, heard and supported.

💚 Today, on World Mental Health Day, we’re reminded why these conversations matter. Talking openly about suicide can challenge stigma, encourage people to seek help before reaching crisis point and remind those who are struggling that they are not alone.

We’re proud to see our founder bringing community voices to the stage and continuing to champion culturally informed suicide prevention.

Reaching out for help doesn’t make you weak. It makes you Brave. 💚

Leeds International Festival of Ideas starts today! 🎉

We’re delighted that our CEO, Donelle Lawrence, will be joining an incredible panel @leedsintfes on 7th October, exploring a question that affects far too many lives: How do we talk about suicide?

For suicide to be discussed openly and honestly on a stage like this is incredibly important. These conversations can help challenge stigma, increase understanding and, most importantly, encourage more people to reach out for help before they reach crisis point.

Donelle will be bringing the voice of community-led suicide prevention to the conversation, sharing insights from her work as Founder and CEO of The Brave Project C.I.C., a suicide prevention service supporting Black boys and young men and their families.

Alongside respected leaders, professionals and experts by experience, Donelle will explore how we can have more open, honest and culturally informed conversations about suicide, and how we can create spaces where people feel safe enough to speak, be heard and ask for help.

We’re incredibly proud to see Donelle representing The Brave Project on stage at such an important festival and bringing community voices into a conversation that needs to be heard.

Talking about suicide matters. The conversations we have today could help someone feel less alone tomorrow. 💜

🌟 Stories of Support and Progress 🌟

As World Autism Acceptance Month comes to a close, we want to pause and share a heartfelt thank you and reflect on what we’ve been able to build together.

With funding from Compass Wellbeing, The Brave Project C.I.C has been able to continue supporting neurodivergent young people and their families through culturally competent, lived experience led support. The feedback we’ve received from parents and young people has been powerful and grounding, reminding us how vital it is to feel truly heard, understood and not alone.

Through the Empower Mentor Programme, we have supported young Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) men aged 16 to 25 in Newham who are autistic/neurodivergent, or exploring a diagnosis. Across peer mentoring, 1 to 1 support and wellbeing workshops, we have created safe spaces where young people can build confidence, connect with others and strengthen their sense of wellbeing.

As we move beyond Autism Acceptance Month, our commitment stays the same: to create spaces where neurodivergent young people feel seen, respected and empowered in who they are.

Thank you to every young person, parent and partner who has shared their journey with us. Your voices continue to shape this work. 🤍 by @the_braveproject

💛 Dear Parents, Carers, Teachers, Friends, and Family,
Please share this with every boy and young man you know — not just those who are struggling.
Remind them:
👉 Reaching out for help isn’t weakness. It’s courage.
👉 They are enough.
👉 Every small step forward matters.

Your share could save a life. 💛
Together, we can make sure no young man feels alone, unheard, or without hope.

🦋 Butterflies don’t know they have wings.
They don’t know they’re strong.
They don’t know they’re beautiful.
They don’t know they can lift themselves out of dark places.

And maybe you’re like that too.
Maybe you’ve forgotten how much you’ve survived.
How many nights you’ve made it through.
How many times you kept going when nobody even saw it.

You have wings.
Even on the days you feel tired.
Even on the days you feel invisible.
Even on the days where getting out of bed feels like climbing a mountain.

If you’re carrying something heavy right now—
We see you.
If you’re hurting quietly—
We are proud of you for staying.
If you feel like you’re supposed to “be strong” or “hold it together”—
you don’t have to do that alone.

If your thoughts are loud… talk to someone.
If your chest feels tight… reach out.
If you feel alone… you’re not.
Not tonight. Not ever.

Stay. Talk. We’re here.
And your wings?
They’re still there.
Even in your darkest moments.
Especially then.

💙 Struggling doesn’t make you weak.
💙 Feeling everything at once doesn’t make you dramatic.
💙 Asking for help doesn’t make you a burden—
it makes you human.
It makes you brave.
