My LO turned 5 months a week ago and it feels so unreal.
I’m here looking at pictures from the week she was born and my God, see how much my baby has grown.

I used to be able to hold you in just one arm without feeling your weight. You used to rest comfortably on my chest with your legs scrunched up like you’re still in my belly. But now, you’re so tall.

How can you be the same tiny human I came home with from the hospital?

For 153 days, I have nursed you, groomed you, prayed over you, held you, worried over you, cheered you on for all your firsts.
And in all of this, you have changed my life too. They say the day a child is born, a mother is also born and I completely agree. Pre-mom Etherberth could never have imagined how large her heart could possibly get. I mean, maybe she could have imagined it but she would never have been able to comprehend it. Never.

You’ve taught me what it means to care deeply for someone that it feels like your heart would melt. You’ve made me soft in a way that only a child can do to their parent, you’ve made me patient, you’ve changed my perspective on life, you’ve taught me what it truly means to surrender, to find joy in the ordinary things in life.

You have no idea how exciting it is watching you discover your hands, feet, and voice. Seeing you smile deliberately for the first time, you intentionally reaching for and grabbing something, hearing your giggle. You’re such a delight, my baby. So full of light and joy.

You’ve also taught me to do hard things, to focus on the most important things in my life, to take insane risks, to move with passionate urgency on the things I care about.

I know without a doubt that you being my child and I being your mother wasn’t an accident. There’s a reason God made it so. God knew exactly what I needed when He gave me you. And I’m learning everyday to be the mom that you need me to be.

Can’t wait to see all that you’ll become my LO.

Mama. by @the_etherberth

Blessed be God our Father who makes all things beautiful in His time. May was a movie and a half. by @the_etherberth

For some reason, whenever I see the picture on the first slide, my brain always goes to the one my parents took years ago during their traditional wedding (second slide).

It sort of feels like we recreated it unintentionally 🤭

My word for 2026.
Intentionality.

Unlike other years, while planning for this year, I didn’t get any “grand” ideas, any “grand “visions or assignments that would get me pumped and excited for the year to come. Instead, the instruction was to look back and re-focus my attention on the goals that I had abandoned, on the dreams that I had been given in previous years that I never acted on.

It was actually mind-boggling not getting anything new, as per “we’re starting a new year. It’s supposed to be fresh.” But the question I was asked in the middle of this thought was “why?” Why did I think I would be given anything new to steward when much faithfulness hasn’t been demonstrated in previous assignments?

And so, this year, in this new season, I’m casting my mind back and remembering. I’m choosing intentionality and focus as the compass for the year.

My actions and decisions will be well-thought-out and premeditated. I will not allow the noise or chaos in the world to interrupt what I know I am supposed to do. I will put my head down and focus, pouring myself into being a good steward and nurturing the things that I have been given. I’m abandoning shame and taking a bet on myself to do the things that I have strong convictions about. I’m embracing courage, audacity, and resilience until the goal is achieved.

And on these things, I know I have the help of God.

In the words of a great philosopher, it always looks crazy till it’s done.

Happy New Year. by @the_etherberth
