Stripers, Smallmouth, Walleye, Trout, and Gar… Oh My!!!

This batch of “River Munchies” consisting of Hollow Fleyes and Single Deceivers is destined to get crunched on hard! If you take a guided trip with @brbade191 in the near future you’ll get a chance to decorate a fish’s lip with some of these!

I think I’m really close to having this one completely figured out and dialed in. Been a fun challenge to figure out. Fly design or engineering is such a fun puzzle to pick apart, tweak, adjust, refine, and simply experiment with.

@fishchaseflies this is a fun variation of a fly fishing spook and much less time consuming as well as less messy compared to the deer hair version. Also lighter to cast over time… super rad fly man! 🤙

Now to work on my airbrush game 🙃

Nothing crazy or super fancy just a simple and effective work horse!

SF Baitfish tied in X style for a little more shoulder build than a high and tight style. Tied with @flatscraft tab eyes for that optical durability factor.

I’m looking forward to seeing what kind of trouble these get into after the whole order ships out!

Definitely going to be tying a few of these for myself when I get a chance.

@rupertharveyflies those foam cutouts definitely simplify and clean up the process a bit.

Crease flies aren’t something I’ve had a ton of experience with, but when you have nice cut out parts they’re pretty sweet. I’m going to have to tie some for myself down the road. These guys are a good reason to break out the airbrush and markers and do a bit of practicing slinging ink!

I doubt there’s a baby bird who’s ever felt so Fly!

Bird Fly in Baby Bird Flavor

When you rob an old nest and a couple quail eggs for photo props 😅

Tied on a @konafishing 1/0 BGC with a 20mm @partridge_hooks predator shank up front using 300D - 1/0 hair stacker thread from @semperfli_flytying to keep that deer hair locked in place.

I think one of my fall/winter fishing goals is to convince a brown or rainbow to eat one of these night fishing! We’ll see how that venture goes!

Thank you everyone we had a great time at this years Readings Fly Shop Home Waters event Niangua Outdoor Days!

This year was definitely not one to miss out on. Not only did we have fun and find some great deals, but we had a great time seeing and catching up with familiar faces as well as making new acquaintances and connections!

Thank you @readings_fly_shop for the great event and especially Darin Jacober… talk about a rep that shows up and busts his butt to get it done and make it happen!!! We missed seeing you @ozark_sweetwater bummer you had to rep elsewhere during that time, hopefully we’ll catch you on the next one!

Jessi and I had a great time at the Tri- Lakes Fly Fishing Expo! It’s one of our favorite regional shows and has such a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. It’s great to see this show continue to grow every year and be so well organized and operated. If you live within the greater Ozarks area and don’t have this show on your schedule you are missing out!!!

Also was great to further friendships, put more names to faces, talk and catch up with people we don’t see very often, and make new friends as well… Great Times!

I had a conversation that I really appreciated and stood out to me. I was borderline scolded with love 😅 that I wasn’t charging enough for some of my work. It’s nice to hear your hard work is noticed and appreciated, but I was honored to receive praise for being humble about it. In addition to that over the past few years I’ve heard several times people are intimidated to approach me, talk, or ask questions. I don’t think of myself as anything for you to be intimidated by. I haven’t created anything distinctly unique, influenced a generation, or achieve anything revolutionary… Y’all I’m nobody special,🤷‍♂️ I’m just a dude obsessed with fly fishing, fly tying, skill improvement, streamers, and food. I have a passionate fishing addiction of the fly variety and at least one case file of the TISM that pairs well with fly tying 😂

I’ve never been interested in trying to be better than anyone else in fishing. While tournaments and friendly competitions can be great ways to test one’s skill and have fun with friends and other kindred spirits. I have never been in competition with anyone other than myself… and the fish 🤣

Feel free to stop by and say hello ,catch up, and see what all else we have available! We hope to see you there!

Once upon a time, there was a frog…

😂 I crack up every time because my mind goes to the opening scene of Shrek🤣

It’s been a hot minute since I’ve done any deer hair was starting to feel a wee bit rusty.
