Night time prep makes tomorrow easier. Trust me, it’s worth it! I have worked hard since my kids were very little to build their independence at home and in the world. It starts with little things like being able to make their own snacks, even from the age of three. The working parent juggle is real, so this five minute prep to know that my kids are sorted for tomorrow, takes down my morning pressure. Be prepared, teach your kids skills and take a breathe. 🌟 I’m busy building The Independent Child guide book 🌟 . Send me a DM with INDEPENDENT to be on the launch list. Can’t wait to share this with you!! #parenting #independentkids #otmum #executivefunctioning by @the_functional_ot_studio

What a year it’s been! A lot of change, a lot of learning and so much happiness through it all. I feel privileged now, more than ever, to do the work we do as OT’s. I continue to navigate who I am as a person, parent, team member and therapist. This year has been the perfect balance of changing and charging forward, with taking it all in slowly and really leaning into the moment. Wishing everyone a beautiful and fulfilling 2026! ✨ by @the_functional_ot_studio

Sometimes the pieces only come together after they’ve been upside down for a while.
Working with children and families can feel like that too : messy, confusing, or “not fitting” before clarity arrives.

But with clinical reasoning, sensory-informed practice, connection and patience, we slowly start turning each piece over.
Patterns make sense.
Needs become clearer.
And families begin to feel understood, supported and empowered.

If you’re a parent, educator or therapist wanting deeper insight into child development, regulation and Executive Function skills… you’re in the right place. 🌿✨
I share evidence-informed strategies, real clinical perspectives, and tools that make the puzzle feel a little less overwhelming.

Follow along for more OT-informed guidance — and stay tuned. Something exciting is coming to support you even further. 💛. 💬 Comment “PUZZLE” if this resonates — I’ll send you more resources.

🌟 **Helping Little Minds Stay Organized** 🌟

Executive functioning skills—like planning, memory, and self-regulation—help young children navigate their day with confidence. One simple but powerful tool? **Visual prompts!** 🖼️✨

By using pictures or charts to outline what needs to be done helps child build independence, and feel more in control. Visual cues remove the guesswork, help parents from repeating themselves 🙈and empower little beings to succeed!

💡Small steps lead to big growth! 🚀

As we head into a new school year, many parents worry about handwriting and fine motor skills. While we need to correct and support pencil grasps and handwriting, underlying fine motor strength and dexterity should be the focus. And the best part is....we can do this through play!

Whether using everyday items from home or store-bought toys, incorporating fun activities into your child’s routine can make a significant difference.
👀 Check out our latest video for easy fine motor activities kids can do at home!

TOP TIPS TUESDAY 🌞
Use an elastic band to support an effective grasp ✏️ Super simple and easy to implement. No dramas changing pencil grips between colours 😀 🌈
Having the pencil in the webspace of the hand assists with control and pencil angle which improve dexterity and neatness.
Let me know how you go!
